Bijoux 105 Metallic Leather Sandals, £665 | Gianvito Rossi
Everyone should own a pair of gold heels. But with so many near-identical strappy metallic sandals out there, it's important to find something that doesn't look run of the mill or tacky. These ones spoke to me. I love how modern the luxe, padded straps feel. Ankle straps can sometimes be a bit unflattering, but these will look great styled with a pair of sheer, polka dot tights to vamp up even the simplest dress. The ultimate, high-octane party shoes.

Fair Isle Alpaca Blend Cardigan, £351.95 | Frame
December is when fair isle jumpers make more of an appearance in my day-to-day wardrobe. There’s something a bit tongue in cheek about wearing something with such festive flair at this time of year. I’m obsessed with this one from Frame – first because it's a cardigan (and therefore more useful than a jumper) and secondly, because it’s so chic. My favourite way to style fair isle is with check or tartan – the traditional clash of prints looks incredible, especially when it’s finished off with a crystal earring. Equally, they work brilliantly with simple leather or denim.

Cream Teddy Mittens, £55 | Jane and Tash
I’m a sucker for a good shearling accessory and tend to lose gloves all the time, so these chunky ones (which come on a string!) are a godsend. It’s difficult to know which colour to go for, but cream feels more traditional and versatile. It’s brilliant when you stumble across something you love that doesn't break the bank. I also much prefer a mitten – these are quite oversized, but I say go big or go home.

Embellished Wool And Silk Checked Wool Mini Dress, £3650 | Miu Miu
This is everything. I’m a tartan devotee at Christmas time and love how traditional and festive it feels (plus, no one looks bad in this print). My tartan items are by far my most worn pieces over the festive period – dressed down at home, dressed up for parties. The contrast and pop of this Miu Miu dress – don't even get me started on the pearl trimming and bow – are seriously swoon worthy. The price tag is steep, but it’s the standout festive dress of the season.

Luna Snow Boots, €252.90 | Gia Borghini
Christmas is all about long wintery walks and that means warm, comfortable shoes. Could there be anything more practical – but still stylish – than padded boots? I adore these ones by Gia Borghini. Black would be boring and predictable, but these tan ones are more interesting and high-end. Perfect Boxing Day footwear, team them with a co-ord knitted loungewear set. If you want to shop around, & Other Stories has a similar version – as does Ivylee Copenhagen.

Bow Small Earrings, £180 | Rosantica
The perfect Christmas adornment, crystal chandelier earrings are timeless, flattering and always lend a finishing touch to any look. They can make even the simplest oversized white shirt or cashmere top feel more festive. I have a real thing for jewellery that moves and an obsession with bows, so these tick all the boxes. Statement but also delicate, I love that the crystals are set in gold rather than silver. It means they’ll go with all my other gold jewellery pieces.

Home-Grown Merino Wool Beanie, £85 | Bamford
I have quite a few beanies but my favourite right now is this cream version from Bamford. They do classics so well and the fit is ideal – not too slouchy, not too snug. Not only are beanies practical for chilly walks, I can't imagine wearing any other type of hat over the Christmas period. White always feels fresh and will go with everything.

Sasha Pearl Embellished Blouse, £125 | Sister Jane
It wouldn't be Christmas if you didn’t buy something with sequins and this year, I've fallen in love with this black blouse from Sister Jane. Puffed sleeves, ruffles, and sparkle – what’s not to love? Over the Christmas holidays, it's often savvy to dress up on the top and then go relaxed on the bottom. This top works so well with relaxed leather pants or wide leg trousers. Add some pearl earrings and an oversized cardigan for a chic, Simone Rocha-inspired look.

Katrina Chestnut Belted Faux Fur Coat, £260 | Jakke
Of all my coats, faux fur gets the most love at Christmas – with tan getting more attention than white. Not only is it a practical colour, it adds richness to classic Christmas jewel tones – and even works brilliantly with tartan. There are lots out there to choose from, but my current favourite brand is Jakke. London-based and focused on animal-friendly sustainability, their pieces are well-priced and the designs bold and modern. An oversized collar and chunky wrap belt are the kind of details that can take you from a country walk to a Christmas party.

Flat Suede Jewel Mules, £98 | The White Company
A pair of elegant statement flats, preferably in black with crystal or pearl embellishment are the best investment you can make at this time of year. Who's going to be cooking a turkey in high heels? Not me. There are lots of high-end versions out there, but my favourites are from Jimmy Choo and Mach & Mach. These were an unexpected find at The White Company and are a great price for such ornate detail. A perfect accompaniment to a pair of leather trousers or silk pyjamas.
