Autumn/Winter Fashion Advice From NET-A-PORTER’s Buying Director
CREATED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NET-A-PORTER
This season everyone should be buying… Western pieces and animal print. I’m also celebrating the return to reality dressing; that means practical, wearable fashion.
I love statement coats so have quite a collection… A favourite is my floor-length shearling leopard coat from Yves Salomon. I also love velvet for autumn and will be bringing out my navy Raquel Diniz jumpsuit this season. Corduroy also features heavily in my wardrobe – I love my jumpsuit from Anna Mason and my Bella Freud trouser suit.
We’ve launched some exclusive capsules… with brands like 16 Arlington and Halpern, which have proved to be some of the most popular on-site. That’s because they’re perfect for the holiday party season. Sequins, feathers, lilac shearling – you name it, it’s there.
An insider tip from NET-A-PORTER… We recently launched The Vanguard, our mentorship program for up and coming brands. For this season, look out for RUH, Les Reveries, gu_de and Souliers Martinez.
It’s not just new brands nailing it right now… I also love Natacha Ramsay-Levi’s take on the 70s at Chloé, Isabel Marant’s contemporary pieces, plus anything Loewe, from bags to ready-to-wear.
I wish I could say there were things I save on… But really, I’m a total clothes and shoe horse so can’t stop buying both. Every autumn I stock up on cashmere and polo-necks for layering. I’m also a big sunglasses person – some might even say addict…
When it comes to accessories this season… You’re safe with anything from By Far in printed mock croc, the Chloé Tess bag, or Loewe’s mini Gate bag.
The designers I always go back to are… Loewe, Isabel Marant, Gianvito Rossi, Prada and Gabriela Hearst.
It has come as no surprise to industry insiders… that neon is huge for Autumn/Winter. We’re putting this down to Prada’s fluorescent colour palette.
My failsafe Autumn/Winter outfit formula is… A turtleneck layered under a great jacket and wide leg pants. I’ll also drape a coat over my shoulders for an ‘I mean business’ finish.
Personally, I’ve been buying… You guessed it… Animal print. Particularly shoes – leopard, zebra, the lot. I also invested in a Giuliva Heritage tweed check coat and cosy knits – Adam Lippes’ patchwork cashmere is a particular favourite.
It’s hard to choose which boots to buy right now… There are so many styles to pick from. The good news is, however, that anything goes, whether you love patent high shine Gianvito Rossi styles, Aquazurra’s leopard or tiger print boots, the Jennifer Chamandi new mule booties or Isabel Marant’s fringed boots.
When it comes to SS19… Sunset colours and tie-dye will be big news. You heard it here first…
Shoes are the best selling category on the site right now. We just launched our Dress From The Feet Up campaign which highlights the key styles of the season.
