The Conscious Edit: June
The Bag Brand
Founded in 2016 by Yesim Karaman, Agneel’s sleek, contemporary designs are making waves in the accessories sphere. Sustainable and ethical values are at the heart of production decisions, from using family owned leather tanneries to a design process that limits waste, as well creating stock to order and hand delivering pieces to nearby customers to minimise carbon emissions. With prices starting at £320, these bags won’t break the bank either.

The Platform
Founder Jemma Finch describes Stories Behind Things as “a window into everything you need to know when it comes to exploring sustainability”. Offering guidance on living and shopping more sustainably in an approachable way, the site hosts ethical brands that shoppers can be confident aren’t just ‘greenwashed’. “What you can expect from us is myth-busting the jargon that’s everywhere right now,” says Jemma, “as well as some tips on how to spot greenwashing, so that wherever you are on your sustainability journey, you can live in line with your values day-to-day.”

The Collab
You might already be familiar with fashion rental platform By Rotation. It has now collaborated with London’s Page8 Hotel, giving guests the opportunity to rent pieces to wear during their stay. On arrival, guests are offered a lookbook of curated items from brands including Ganni, Jacquemus and Rixo that are available to hire for as little as £5 a day. Packing for a staycation just got easier (and lighter).

The Label
Inspired by the carefree spirit of Tulum, Azûllik’s pieces are, as founder Mercedita Ramirez de la Peña says, designed to make women feel powerful and confident. With a focus on timeless silhouettes that are just as easily worn daytime and evening, each style is handcrafted ethically in Amsterdam and produced in limited quantities to minimize waste. The brand officially launches next week, so keep an eye on their Instagram for a taste of what’s to come.

The Rental Service
London-based Mother Of Pearl is already known for its eco-credentials, but now it’s got a new sustainability initiative. Founder Amy Powney wants to close the loop by ensuring that every stage of a Mother Of Pearl garment's life is considered. So, fulfilled by online rental platform Onloan, the Full Circle offers shoppers the option to both buy and rent the entire collection.
