THE SHOWS

Rejina Pyo
We can always count on Rejina Pyo to put out a collection that’s both refreshing and wearable. Incorporating plenty of her usual feminine signature details, the brand presented a fresh take on workwear – aptly named ‘Love and Work’. Our favourite pieces included the slouchy tailoring and sleek outwear.
16Arlington
16Arlington is known for making glamorous pieces with a cool-girl twist – think feather-embellished gowns, sequins and silk – and their SS23 show was no exception. With plenty of sophisticated tailoring on offer, the brand also presented a few more traditional pieces, from blazers to long coats – all with a modern twist, be it an exaggerated lapel or in an unexpected fabric. Our highlight was the silk maxi coats.

Erdem
Set at the British Museum, Erdem’s show was built around and influenced by the theme of art restoration. The design team’s reference points started with photos taken at the V&A and National Gallery of various paintings and historical costumes. These references then came through the collection via delicate tulle and lace, along with bolder structures that reinforced and contrasted the different silhouettes.
Nensi Dojaka
Exuding a sophisticated sexiness, Nensi Dojaka is a master of flattering, sultry silhouettes. The lingerie-based aesthetic of this show introduced lace to the collection, as well as an extended colour palette compared to past seasons. Feminine grunge was key, and we loved the contrast of sheer fabrics with visible boning. Finally, the limited-edition piece made from deadstock fabrics, and worn by none other than Emily Ratajkowski, made for an unforgettable finale.

Molly Goddard
Molly Goddard’s shows are always fun, loud, bold and theatrical. This season, models crossed the stage repeatedly from different angles to a backdrop of booming music. Standout pieces included the larger-than-life tulle skirts and dresses, but we also loved the more understated structures which offered a more wearable take.
Huishan Zhang
Chinese-born and London-based designer Huishan Zhang founded his eponymous label back in 2012 and is now a LFW regular. His SS23 collection was arguably one of the most talked about of the week. Memorable pieces included his traditional Cheongsams that took on a more minimalistic look, along with shift dresses that were contrasted with asymmetric details.
THE BIG TREND
It’s no secret that pink has dominated both the runway and high-street this year, with ‘Barbiecore’ emerging as one of 2022’s biggest trends. Following this latest raft of show, it’s clear it’s here to stay – albeit in a slightly more pared back and toned-down fashion.

THE BACKSTAGE MOMENT
From model moments to moodboards, in the make-up chair to just before walking onto the runway – backstage moments tell a story almost as interesting as the show itself, and this year, our favourite comes courtesy of Christopher Kane and this backstage montage shared on Instagram.
THE STREET STYLE
As ever, the street style was as iconic as the looks on the runway thanks to LFW regulars like Noorie Ana and Camille Charrière. Here are some of the key trends that stood out...

THE STREET STYLE TRENDS
Sequins
Who said sequins were just for party season? Designers and influencers alike have embraced this extravagant trend – add it to simple looks for a little more texture or go all out like Klaudia for an evening wear alternative.
Leather & Lace
By no means a new combo, this pairing has been resurrected for another season. The perfect balance of edgy and feminine, style this like Camille with a lace top and leather jacket, or opt for a lace trim dress with a sleek leather boot.
Puffers
Another street style favourite, Noorie’s matching-separates take on the puffer trend making this look feel maximalist but still wearable.
