BOOK IN FOR THIS NEW BRUNCH: Allegra
For weekend brunches in the capital, those in the know head to Allegra on the seventh floor of the Stratford Hotel – just a seven-minute Overground journey from King’s Cross St Pancras. Head chef Patrick Powell has just launched a new brunch menu – think Cornish crab, potato latke, pickled fennel and sesame; or truffled croque madame with baked ham and confit egg. There are also a handful of dishes to share ‘For The Table’, including a whole roast Yorkshire free-range chicken, aioli and caramelised lemon. New cocktails include the East Side (Ojo de Dios mezcal, cucumber, lemon balm, honey and lime) and the Wrong Bianco (Allegra’s own dry vermouth blend, Luxardo Bianco, Pet Nat and bitters). The brunch is also available on a Friday.

BOOK A TABLE FOR THIS LIMITED TAKEOVER: Stoney Street X Tom Cenci
Having transformed Stoney Street into an evening wine bar, Alex Hely-Hutchinson is now opening the doors to her kitchen to support chefs affected by the pandemic. To kick off Stoney Street by Night, Tom Cenci is doing a three-month residency. Every evening from Wednesday to Saturday until the end of the year, Tom’s menu will showcase quality British produce with a focus on sustainability and reducing food waste. Starters include cornmeal pancake with Old Bay butter, charred corn and spring onion; and griddled Navajo flatbread with strained yoghurt, chilli and rose oil. To follow, look out for smoked salmon bellies with grape mustard mayo topped with radish and turmeric dill pickles. For those with a sweet tooth, there will be an indulgent banoffee cheesecake with a hob nob crunch and puppy chow cereal (a typically homemade American snack with peanut butter, melted chocolate and cereal) served with a light chocolate yoghurt mousse and drizzled with hibiscus syrup. The wine list will continue to showcase acclaimed natural wine suppliers from across the world, alongside a short cocktail menu.
