A REIMAGINED MAYFAIR ICON

The Dorchester has long been synonymous with timeless elegance – but its newly relaunched restaurant, The Grill, is rewriting the rules of luxury dining. Designed to feel like the hotel’s true dining room, it’s a space that hums with energy from morning to night. Think Champagne breakfasts, theatrical tableside service and a pudding trolley that’s pure nostalgia.

This isn’t just a hotel restaurant. It’s a destination in its own right – having opened this week it’s already drawing in Mayfair locals, international travellers and the city’s most discerning diners. Whether you’re popping in for a business breakfast or dressing up for a Saturday night supper, The Grill promises a warm welcome, a touch of glamour and food worth talking about.

THE VIBE

Step inside and you’ll feel the buzz, the rhythm and the unmistakable Dorchester sparkle immediately. A dramatic chandelier anchors the room, casting a soft glow over refreshed interiors which includes Bentley leather banquettes and gleaming brass accents. Chefs work in full view, finishing dishes at the kitchen counter. The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined, with just the right amount of theatre. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for hours – sipping martinis, sharing oysters and watching the room come to life.

THE CHEF

At the helm is executive chef Martin Nail, whose vision for The Grill is rooted in British tradition but reimagined for today. His menus celebrate simplicity done exceptionally well – native oysters, rare rib-eye, spider crab linguini – with a focus on seasonal ingredients and bold flavours.

There’s a touch of drama, too. Tuna tartare is prepared tableside, steak tartare arrives with flair and the Sunday dessert trolley is a real showstopper. Martin’s approach is polished yet playful, with dishes that feel both comforting and elevated. It’s British grill cuisine, but not as you know it.

THE FOOD

Breakfast at The Grill is a ritual worth waking up for. From 7am, you’ll hear London coming to life: business meetings over omelette Arnold Bennett, locals lingering over lobster thermidor crumpets and guests easing into the day with champagne eggs. There’s sourdough toast with cultured butter, fresh juices, and a drinks menu for those who like their mornings with a twist. Whether you’re enjoying a working breakfast meeting or simply treating yourself, breakfast here sets the tone for a very good day.

By midday, The Grill shifts gears. The lunch menu offers a daily prix fixe, ideal for pre-theatre dining or a quick bite between meetings, while the à la carte delivers on indulgence. Expect spider crab linguini, grilled lobster, fish pie and rare cuts cooked to perfection.

And then dinner is when the restaurant will truly come alive. Guests can gather for celebrations, toast over oysters and linger over beef wellington. The monthly Supper Club series adds another layer of excitement, with curated menus and guest appearances to make each evening feel like an event.

This isn’t just a hotel restaurant – it's a DESTINATION IN ITS OWN RIGHT. Having reopened this week, it’s already drawing in the city’s most discerning diners.

THE SUNDAY MENU

If you’re looking for a new Sunday ritual, The Grill delivers in spades. The roast offering is classic and comforting – think perfectly pink beef, crisp roast potatoes and all the trimmings – but it’s the dessert trolley that steals the show. Banana splits, jam roly poly, queen of puddings and a silver bowl topped high with chocolate mousse are wheeled to your table with old-school charm. Even if you’re full, you’ll find room for a spoonful. Maybe two. It’s nostalgic and theatrical.

THE BAR

No visit is complete without a stop at The Grill Bar. Inspired by the hotel’s historic Sherry Room, the bar offers a curated sherry menu and a daily ‘Sherry Moment’ from 6-7pm, a long serve straight from the barrel, paired with olives and a sense of occasion. Signature cocktails include the ‘Grill Adonis’ and the ‘London Calling’ (gin and fino sherry), while the ‘Frozen Grill Classic Martini’ is served in large format for those who like to share. It’s a space that feels intimate yet buzzy – perfect for a pre-dinner drink or a nightcap with flair.

THE RONNIE SCOTT’S EXPERIENCE

Adding another layer of glamour to The Grill’s calendar, The Dorchester has partnered with legendary Soho jazz club Ronnie Scott’s for a monthly residency. On select evenings, soulful live performances take centre stage alongside a curated three-course menu by culinary director Martyn Nail. Expect swinging beats, smooth vocals and a dining experience that’s as atmospheric as it is indulgent. Upcoming artists include Natalie Duncan, Jo Harrop and Georgia Cécile – each bringing their own take on contemporary jazz.

WHY IT BELONGS ON YOUR RADAR

The Dorchester has always been one of our favourite destinations for glamour and excellent service, and now, there’s even more reason to visit. From breakfast meetings to Sunday roasts, it offers something for every moment, mood and palate. With its bold new look, confident menu and unmistakable Dorchester charm, The Grill is set to become one of the city’s most talked-about dining rooms.
