A Beauty Insider Shares Her AM & PM Routines
AM:
I am emphatic about dry body brushing to wake up not only the skin, but also the lymphatic system. The Mirror Water Buff Body Dry Body Brush has the perfect density of bristles, encased in an ergonomic pebble shape. I do love a scalding-hot shower, which I find wakes me up better than coffee. I’m driven by both scent and kindness-to-skin when it comes to in-shower washes – at the moment I’m oscillating between Aesop Eleos Aromatique Body Cleanser and AKT The Body Wash Concentrate in Orange Grove. The scent of each infuses into the hot shower steam, and it feels like something approaching an island spa experience. If there’s time, I’ll shave my legs with Nimbi’s disposable razor, which is petrochemical free and leaves no trace. Genius.
I have combination skin that’s prone to dryness in colder months, with some congestion around the T-zone when I’m stressed or hormonal. My primary goals are to maintain healthy, resilient skin and support long-term firmness and clarity. I’m less interested in perfection and anti-ageing, and more focused on restoring balance and strength — allowing my skin to do what it was designed to do. For speed, I cleanse my skin in the shower each morning, which means you’ll always find three or four partially used REOME Three Suns Balm Revitalising Cleansers on the shower shelf at any one moment. It’s gentle and non-drying, but leaves my skin beaming.
Then, it’s time for hydration. I apply my skincare in texture order, always from lightest to richest. I begin with a liquid essence, then follow up with serums tailored to how my skin is feeling that day — typically a peptide or niacinamide-based formula. Currently, I’m testing a lab sample but otherwise I’d usually reach for Chanel No.1 Revitalising Essence Lotion or Dr. Ceuracle Vegan Kombucha Tea Essence, both of which absorb beautifully.
I then go in with our REOME Active Recovery Broth. It’s the backbone of my entire routine — calming, strengthening and deeply hydrating. The formula cleverly allows everything else to layer seamlessly on top. Antioxidants are my non-negotiable. They work hard under the surface — protecting against environmental stress while brightening and supporting collagen production. I favour formulas rich in vitamin C.
Despite having been evangelical about daily sun protection during my almost two decades as a beauty director, I had started to become slack with this – founder working hours don’t allow for much downtime or sun exposure! Lately, I’ve tried to jump back in and, I have to say, the hype is real when it comes to MECCA Cosmetica To Save Face SPF50, which absorbs really seamlessly. I’m a lifelong fan of La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios range, which has served me well on my summer holidays over the years. I’m woefully pale and burn easily, so erring on the side of caution is the only way.
Facial massage — even if just for a minute or two – goes a long way. It encourages blood flow, depuffs and adds a moment of mindfulness. I keep a Lanshin gua sha stone in my bathroom cabinet. If I’m looking particularly puffy and tired, I’ll gently glide it over my upper cheeks, tracing the orbital rim in outward motions, just ten swipes on each side makes a noticeable difference.
During the colder months, I increase lipids and layer more occlusive textures to support my barrier. I’ve been a long-time fan of both Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream, which has that nostalgic sun cream-like scent, and of course La Mer’s The Rich Cream, which feels like a blanket for my skin. In warmer weather, I pare things back — incorporating lighter emulsions, facial mists (I do love the Omorovicza one), and always a gel cleanser to keep my skin clear and balanced.

PM:
Evening is more ritualistic. I love an evening shower or bath — I often add a bath oil – usually Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Honey Bath, and a few drops of Verden Herbanum Bath Oil. I put on a news or politics podcast, which makes for an escape from my own daily grind. It’s less about efficiency and more about transition — helping the nervous system shift into rest mode.
I thoroughly cleanse my skin using the same formula as in the morning and then replenish lost moisture with our Active Recovery Broth. When time doesn’t allow, my speedy routine includes a quick cleanse with Santa Maria Novella Aqua di Rose toner and an organic cotton pad, followed by Lancôme Bi-Facil Make-up Remover to gently nudge off the day’s mascara.
I exfoliate once or twice a week, usually chemically rather than physically. I love lactic acid for its dual resurfacing and hydrating benefits. It’s about refinement, not aggression — exfoliation should always serve regeneration, never disruption. I’m a fan of Biologique Recherche Lotion P50, but I use it once or twice per week, which suits my skin. I’m also known to travel with a few sachets of Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads – which really do help to restore my skin’s natural glow, without being too abrasive.
Vitamin A has an occasional place in my rotation, but I approach it with care. I use low-dose retinal or retinol a few nights a week every few months; currently it’s Environ Vita-Antioxidant AVST Moisturiser 1. I tend to place a higher value on ingredients that support repair: panthenol or Vitamin B5; bio-fermented minerals that support cellular metabolism; and microalgae extracts that enhance skin resilience. Often, we overcomplicate things, but there’s no need to. The simpler I go with my skincare, the better my skin looks.
Our Firming Eye Treatment is my go-to — I apply it with my ring finger, gently tapping from tear trough to temple. For lips, I love By Terry’s Rose de Baume, which is the perfect non-slippy ointment texture. Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, I know that if my lips are feeling particularly dry, that means my spleen is in need of a boost, so I’ll make a huge vat of congee with a couple of dollops of beef bone broth – incredible for nourishing the body’s yin reserves and restoring moisture and collagen.
If I’m experiencing breakouts or sensitivity, I simplify – fewer actives, more barrier support. If I’m dry or dull, I will layer more essences, mists and serums, and lock them in with richer textures. Skin reflects so much – stress, sleep, environment – so I let it guide me.
