Product Spotlight: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade

Anastasia Beverly Hills is a brand top make-up artists and industry insiders love. Its vast range includes numerous bestsellers, with Dipbrow Pomade one of the most popular. Dreamt up by founder Anastasia Soare in 2000, the brand initially struggled to achieve ‘the perfect formula’. After several innovations, it relaunched the product in 2014 with a new waterproof formulation and it was an instant hit. With a smooth texture and matte finish, it moves effortlessly through hairs to create fuller looking brows. 

What sets this pomade apart is the smooth, creamy texture and rich pigment. Make-up artist and wellness expert Camilla Hewitt explains: “The silky texture allows you to even out the shade and texture of your brows, all at once.” A little goes a long way, too, meaning one small jar should last you for months, and it’s waterproof, so the staying power is impressive. That said, it’s still suitable for make-up novices to use. The blendable texture means you can touch up mistakes as you go – right up until it dries down to a matte finish. As for finding your shade, Anastasia recommends choosing one shade lighter than your natural brow hairs. “This formula dries down darker than on first application, so it’s best to choose a shade that’s lighter than normal,” says Anastasia. 

For easy application, use the brand’s ‘No. 12 Brush’, which was designed specifically to blend the formula out. For best results, Camilla advises: “Dip an angled brush with short, stiff bristles into the formula, then brush it on with light, short strokes, starting at the centre of your brow before working outwards. To keep everything in place, finish off with a dusting of powder over the top – this will add depth and dimension.” Anastasia adds: “As this is a waterproof formula, it’s important to keep the product constantly refreshed so you always get the best out of it. Try adding a drop of facial oil once a month to the jar and leaving it overnight. This will keep the pomade malleable and easy to work with.” Finally, brush everything through with a spoolie to evenly deposit the formula and give you a more natural-looking finish. It doesn’t just work on your brows, either – the versatile formula also doubles up as a gel liner. 

Dipbrow continues to earn five-star review across the board. Anastasia explains why: “It became a cult classic for a reason. It was a first-of-its kind formula that let people sculpt and shape. It immediately adds dimension to brows, without looking OTT – it creates hair-like details and is incredibly versatile. It’s really evolved, too.
