Product Spotlight: Rhode Pocket Blush

With aesthetic campaigns and genius marketing tools (the lip-gloss phone case? Iconic), of course every Rhode product gets a lot of hype. But this being Hailey Bieber’s first foray into make-up – if you don’t include the Peptide Lip Treatment – everyone sat up and listened. Creamy and blendable, lightweight yet pigmented, the Pocket Blush is something Hailey says she worked hard to perfect for two years: “It took a really long time to develop because I wanted it to be great.” The goal, as ever with Rhode, was to create something ‘essential’: “things you can’t leave the house without, live without or travel without. Things that are for everyday and easy to apply, like a flush of colour.”   

We can confidently say that, even without the Bieber name attached, this formula would gain traction because of its make-up-skincare hybrid nature. There are peptides to visibly plump and smooth skin, and help to support the skin barrier. There’s also tamanu oil (sourced from tropical trees) which is lightweight but rich with hydrating and soothing fatty acids. These ingredients help the blush to melt into the skin, leaving a seamless, glowy finish that is subtly pigmented, and stays put all day long. 

The clue’s in the name, says Hailey. “You can toss it in your pocket or throw it in your purse. You can either apply it with your finger or put it directly on the skin… You could be wearing nothing and looking so tired that day, and if you just give a pop to your cheeks, it changes the whole face.”

We like to swipe it on and blend it out with our fingers for a diffused finish. Place it on the apples of the cheeks and blurred across the nose for a sun-kissed look. Or try it higher up the cheekbones to lift the face. If there’s a little spare product on your fingertip, press it into the lips to add a little colour there too.

The Pocket Blush launched with six glowy shades, but now has 11, catering for all skin tones and colour preferences. Choose from the vibrant coral of ‘Spicy Marg’, the deep and sophisticated ‘Date Cake’, a soft pink in ‘Sprinkle’ or something in between.
