All The Products We Spotted Backstage At LFW

The beauty looks at London Fashion Week rarely disappoint. To find out how the magic happens, we asked Sapna to report back on what the industry’s top make-up artists had in their kits this season.

All products on this page have been selected by our editorial team, however we may make commission on some products.

Beautiful Skin Radiant Concealer | Charlotte Tilbury

Spotted At: David Koma

David Koma’s make-up looks were a little more glam than those at other shows. To start, the base had more coverage but in a way that didn’t look too full on – achieved using Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Concealer. A true multi-tasking product, it boasts a medium and buildable coverage that lasts for up to 16 hours. Plus, it contains niacinamide to smooth and hydrate the skin. It was interesting to see how MUAs – including Sofia Tilbury – used a small brush and only a tiny amount of product to conceal both under the eyes and on blemishes for the most skin-like but airbrushed result. The under eyes were especially fresh and bright looking. Both hair and make-up had a wet look, with artists using Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish Spray at the end to melt away any powder make-up and intensify that glossy look.

Longwear Gel Liner | Bobbi Brown

Spotted At: Erdem

At Erdem, Bobbi Brown also went for the dewy natural skin look, paired with brushed-up brows and a bold red matte lip with a slight ombre effect. The team used radiant, hydrating textures and matte finishes together to achieve this perfectly balanced look. The star of the show, however, was bold  eyeliner. Inspired by Deborah Vivien Cavendish – the late dowager Duchess of Devonshire – make-up artist Amy Conway adapted the look to suit each girl's face shape. The trick is to elongate the wing to create a larger, more cat-eye effect, while more product in the inner corner opens up the eye shape. For those with hooded eyes, the team concentrated more of the gel liner product on the lid to widen the wing.

Code8

Spotted at: Emilia Wickstead

Lead make-up artist Anne-Sophie Costa created a polished base using Code8’s Day-to-Night Foundation, and a touch of the Seamless Cover Concealer topped off with the Matte Velour Powder. The powder can be used on its own as a foundation, or just to set areas of the face to create a matte, soft-focus finish. The texture feels breathable on the skin, and you can trust that it won’t look cakey or create a white cast in photos. Elsewhere, a sculptural, bushy brow was the result of the brand’s Arch Realist Brow Pencil and the entire look was completed by a subtle, balmy lip.

HyperReal & MACximal Silky Matte Lip | M·A·C

Spotted at: Holzweiler & Roksanda

M·A·C’s Sharryn Hinchliffe made lips the focus at Roksanda, with models wearing the new and improved MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick in either ‘Diva’ (a deep red) or ‘Caviar’ (black) to complete their film noir-themed looks. However, the standout trick from M·A·C’s beauty team was the way they created glass-like ‘misty make-up’ complexions at both Roksanda and Holzweiler. At Holzweiler particularly, make-up artist Carly Utting and the M·A·C pro team created a flawless base in the most natural way. The secret was M·A·C’s HyperReal Real Serumizer. Great for balancing, re-texturising and strengthening the skin’s barrier, it was used to create a luminescent base before Studio Radiance Face & Body Sheer Foundation was applied on top for a subtle hint of colour. The Serumiser almost knocked the foundation’s coverage down to achieve a soft and flawless look.

Glow Fluid | myBlend

Spotted at: Roksanda

We all know a glowy base starts with the right skin prep, and this wonder serum from myBlend was spotted backstage at Roksanda. First, the make-up artists did a bit of facial and shoulder massage – the latter coming courtesy of Ilapothecary – to create a sleek, snatched look.  The serum was then applied pre-foundation to boost radiance and keep the skin looking fresh and hydrated. The airy, fine-textured formula also worked as a highlighter, illuminating the high points of the face to enhance the skin’s natural radiance.
