The Hair Products SheerLuxe’s Beauty Director Can’t Live Without

Our beauty director Jenn has tried every trick in the book to keep her long, coloured hair as smooth, silky and healthy as possible. So naturally, we were curious to see which products and tools she comes back to time and again to keep it looking its best…

Hydro-Fusion Anti-Frizz Hot Air Styler

£60 | BaByliss

Not to blow my own trumpet, but I get asked at least once a week about my ‘blow dry’ and it comes down to this tool. It smooths things out, adds some volume and lift and after using it (and the BaByliss Big Hair) for almost 15 years, I’ve trimmed the start-to-finish styling time down to seven minutes. I have three, just in case they ever discontinue it.

Dream Coat Supernatural Spray

£21.60 | Color Wow

This formula is pure magic and if you’ve not tried it, I urge you to. Spritzed (liberally) on wet hair and ‘set’ with heat styling, it forms a protective layer around the hair to prevent it from going wild in the humidity. My hair is prone to losing its mind the second the atmosphere around it changes, but this has put an end to that. It also comes in a travel-sized bottle.

Curve Creative Curl Wand

£159 | GHD

When I want to add some waves to my hair I always choose this over a straight barrel, as the tapered barrel allows you to create a beachy, kinky shape rather than ringlet-y curls. With no clamp to battle with, I find it a breeze to use, wrapping each section of my hair around the barrel for about eight seconds to get a tousled, cool-girl look.

Rich Hydration Mask

£39 | Olaplex

This hair mask is the best I’ve ever used. Harnessing the power of the patented bond-repairing Olaplex technology, this truly repairs damage, but the new formula also protects against frizz for more than five washes. My hair feels so silky after using it (no mean feat, considering I subject it to heat styling on an almost daily basis), but without the weight or grease that some rich hair masks can leave behind. There’s a lighter version too for those with finer hair.

Original Detangler Brush

£11.99 | WetBrush

Did you know that your hair is much weaker and prone to breakage when wet? But, for most of us, that’s when we’re going to take a brush to it. These clever designs offer a gentler, snag-free experience, minimising breakage by up to 55% as they glide through.

Original Treatment

£38.50 | Moroccanoil

This is another product I’ve been loyal to for years. I use it on wet hair to keep frizz under control and it helps with detangling too. I’m sure other products could do the same but I couldn’t tell you the last time I washed my hair and didn’t use it.

Supersonic Nural™ Hair Dryer

£399.99 | Dyson

Proof that not all hair dryers are created equal, this knocks my drying time by half and helps to fight the frizz too. I’ve also had it for around six years and it’s still going strong (which means the investment was worth it).

Hair Rituel Precious Hair Care Oil

£96 | Sisley-Paris

I’ll address the price first: yes, this is expensive for a hair product but would you spend this much on skincare? Maybe. And this, from luxury skincare brands Sisley, works just as well as its facial serums and creams. I apply it to styled hair to tame flyaways and add shine, topping it up throughout the day when needed. It doesn’t make things greasy, the scent is amazing and you only need the tiniest drop. I’ve had my current bottle for well over six months and it’s still going strong.

Style Lab Air-Dry Styler

£27 | Living Proof

My natural hair texture is wavy but sadly not in a Gisele-like way. It’s more Hagrid-esque if left to air-dry without any help. I’ve tried many, many air-dry products and this is my current favourite – it’s lightweight but has enough grip to create a tousled texture.

Curl Scrunching Jelly

£8.95 | Umberto Giannini

Another air-drying hero is this old school jelly, which was recommended to me by a friend who has lovely, coily curls. Rubbing it between my palms first, I then apply this by grabbing handfuls of my hair from the ends and pushing upwards to create waves (a little goes a long way). Then you leave it to set. It dries quite hard but the trick is to ‘scrunch out the crunch’, after which you’re left with definition that lasts. If you’re on a ‘curly girl’ journey, this is one to try.
