6 Celebrity Beauty Brands Worth The Hype

            Rhode
Few brands have been as clever with their branding and social media strategy as Rhode. By turning phone cases into lip balm holders (that they can’t keep in stock) and teaming up with of-the-moment actors to promote new launches, Hailey Bieber has established herself as a serious player in the beauty market. But this isn’t a case of style over substance: the formulas are genuinely brilliant, all safe for sensitive skin and perfect for creating that minimalist, ‘clean girl’ look. A mere three years after launching, she’s sold it to e.l.f. Beauty for $1bn (£740m), although she does plan to stay on as chief creative officer.

Fenty Beauty
Launched in 2017 by Rihanna, Fenty was groundbreaking from the start. Driven by an empowering inclusivity message, its ranges cater to a wide range of skin tones and undertones – a rarity in the industry. Launching with 40 foundations, it immediately earned a large and loyal customer base. It’s not just a fun project for Rihanna either – she’s heavily involved in formulation and testing, which shows up in the quality of the products.

Cécred
When Beyoncé talks, we listen. And when she launches a hair care brand, we shop it. While all hair types can reap the benefits of her Cécred range, the hydrating, nourishing formulas work especially well for curly or textured hair – as she herself has proved on social media, silencing naysayers who argued that she relied solely on weaves and wigs. The mask is brilliant if you’re looking to bring frazzled strands back from the brink.

Rare Beauty
Even if you’re not already one of Selena’s fans, her brand Rare Beauty is worth a look. On a mission to encourage self-expression and self-acceptance, the product line is ever growing – from foundations to fragrance, and the make-up offering is available in an impressively wide range of shades. It’s hard to pick a winner the Liquid Blush went viral for a reason. The creamy, bright formula is so densely pigmented that it’s hard to imagine ever finishing a tube.

Victoria Beckham Beauty
Those who remember Victoria Beckham’s initial beauty collab with Estée Lauder will know the woman is a true make-up obsessive. The formulas were exceptional and, luckily, the same applies to her eponymous brand that launched in 2019. Though the Kajal eye liners get the most attention (rightly so, they’re 10/10) there’s not a dud in the collection. What’s particularly impressive is her dedication to skin-friendly formulas, highlighted by her partnership with skincare icons Professor Augustinus Bader and Melanie Grant.
JVN Hair
Though he may be best known as one fifth of the Queer Eye squad, Jonathan Van Ness started out as a hair stylist, training with Aveda and working his way up through the ranks. That set him in good stead for launching his own haircare brand – one that’s curated, solution driven and user friendly. The shampoos and conditioners are great but it’s in the strengthening, smoothing and styling products where the brand – literally – shines.
