8 Tanning Drops For Healthy, Sun-Kissed Skin
Best For: A Light Colour
Self-Tanning Drops, £21.95 | Isle Of Paradise
Isle of Paradise drops are an affordable way to maintain a sun-soaked tan year-round. Transform any moisturiser into a custom self-tan by adding some of these glow-enhancing drops – the more drops you use, the deeper the glow. Colourless, these are also kind to skin and won’t block pores or transfer onto clothing and sheets. That said, we do recommend washing your hands afterwards to avoid any unwanted colour developing on your palms.

Best For: A Hit Of Hydration
Super Glow Hyaluronic Self-Tan Serum, £36 | Tan Luxe
Add two to three drops of Tan-Luxe’s Self-Tan Serum to your moisturiser, mask or facial oil to develop a gradual olive-toned colour. Hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and cocoa seed extract keep skin firm and moisturised – if needed, just add a bit of extra contour with your usual bronzer. You can also mix these with your foundation – a favourite trick of make-up artists if time is of the essence.

Best For: Building Glow While You Sleep
Dusk To Dawn Overnight Face Tan, £44 | Self Glow By James Read
Tanning guru James Read’s entire line offers seamless tanning solutions, but we especially love the idea of simply slapping on some serum and sleeping your way to a healthier looking glow. Blending hyaluronic acid to plump and fermented mushrooms to soothe, this is true skincare-meets-tan.

Best For: Paler Skin Tones
Bronze Base, £22 | Sculpted By Aimee
Those with paler skin tones will love these subtle tan drops from Sculpted by Aimee. Never OTT or streaky, they deliver a believable glow. Unlike others on the market, these dry down fast, so while you need to work quickly, the benefit is they don’t stain or mark your pillowcase and sheets. Even better, the colour fades evenly and gradually – it never dries skin out either, thanks to added castor oil and skin-loving glycerine.

Best For: An Affordable Option
Ambre Solaire Natural Bronzer Self-Tan Face Drops, £10.67 (was £16) | Garnier
Fans of Garnier’s Summer Body Lotion will love these new self-tan drops. Just like the cream, they deliver a believable, gradual glow that’s never too much. Mix a few drops in with your moisturiser or serum, or apply them neat – you can’t go wrong. We love the addition of hyaluronic acid and nourishing coconut water – great for sensitive skins.

Best For: Easy Application
Vinobronze Self-Tan Sun Drops, £19 | Caudalie
You can use these drops to take your tan from super subtle to sun-kissed simply by adjusting the amount of product you apply. Our favourite way is to drip a few drops into your daily moisturiser: one or two for bit of tint or five to six for a bolder, bronzy finish.

Best For: A Wash-Off Formula
D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Drops, £35 | Drunk Elephant
When this product launched, it was near impossible to get your hands on it, such was the popularity of this bronzing formula. Rich with antioxidants and safe to use across the whole body, like all Drunk Elephant products it’s happy to be mixed into any other (think serum, moisturiser or body lotion). The resulting glow is completely natural looking but if you do accidentally go overboard, it simply washes off.

Best For: Long-Lasting Results
Adaptive Tan Drops, £75 | Oskia
Rather than just adding a wash of colour to the skin (which it does brilliantly, developing a few hours after application) this silky formula has two further ‘phases’. The second boosts melanin with a complex that naturally develops your own tone, before a third takes micro-encapsulated DHA (Dihydroxyacetone – a form of sugar used in almost every tanning product) deep into the skin, so the results last for longer.
