Our Favourite Body SPFs For Summer
Sun Care Body Cream SPF50+
£29 | Clarins
If you like a classic sun tan lotion texture – a little thick and creamy – then this is one of the best. It feels truly moisturising as you apply it (that will be the mix of organic cocoa extract, vitamin K and argan oil) but texture aside, it also doesn’t leave any yellow stains on your clothes. Even your whitest shirt is safe.

Bod Brigade Extreme Screen Hydrating Skinscreen
£55 | Ultra Violette
With a strong level of protection, hydrating and soothing ingredients and a subtly sweet coconut scent, this already ticks a lot of boxes. But it’s the finish that’s the cherry on top: white cast-free, it’s luxuriously glossy with a slight golden shimmer. It’s so good we’d even wear it after sunset.

Sun Beauty Protective Water SPF50
£34 | Lancaster
On the other end of the scale, texture wise, is this protective water from Lancaster – one of the most trusted names in suncare. A ‘shake it to wake it’ b-phase formula, once mixed together, hydrating oils and squalane are spritzed out alongside SPF50 protection and the brand’s Tan Activator Complex which helps to enhance your natural glow. The fine mist is lightweight and not greasy, but it does leave a lovely, long-lasting sheen on the skin.

Rio Radiance Body Spray SPF50
£36 | Sol De Janeiro
Sol de Janeiro body products are known for their incredible scents, whether that’s in a tub of Bum Bum Cream or, in this case, delivered via each spritz of its refreshing SPF50 all-over spray. The fragrance notes of coconut, ylang ylang, vanilla and amber are so intoxicatingly warm and summery that you’ll undoubtedly be tempted to reapply it more often as a perfume – it’s a win-win.

Vinosun Protect Very High Protection Sun Water SPF50+
£32 | Caudalie
Caudalie’s products are designed to heal and protect the skin using extracts from the brand’s vineyard grapes which are grown in Bordeaux, and this is no different. Delivered in a fast-absorbing yet juicy bi-phase liquid, the seed extracted polyphenol blocks 100% of free radicals from causing damage, while vitamin E helps to soothe – all alongside some sturdy SPF50 defence.

Anthelios Hydrating Body Lotion SPF50+
£20.80 (was £26) | La Roche-Posay
If you suffer from dry and itchy skin and can find some sunscreens irritating, this formula from skincare brand La Roche-Posay is worth trying. It’s infused with the brand’s signature antioxidant-rich thermal spring water that helps to soothe skin and even prevent prickly heat symptoms, all whilst protecting via a silky, milky lotion.

Pina Colada Body Spray SPF30
£27 | Coola
Really ticking all the boxes, this sprays on in a fine and moisturising mist (if applied generously you shouldn’t even have to rub it it), contains antioxidants to help prevent and repair sun damage and leaves a sheer yet strong and water-resistant (for up to 80 minutes) layer of SPF30 protection. If you’re a pina colada fan you’d be hooked on the scent alone – tropical, sweet and evocative of sipping cocktails on the beach.

Expert Sun Protector Clear Suncare Stick SPF50
£32 | Shiseido
Though this is really formulated for the face (with long-lasting hydration and anti-ageing benefits) we love throwing it in a beach bag for easy on-the-go application all over the body too. Swiped down your arms or up your legs, it leaves behind a completely invisible shield that stands up to water or sweat, defending skin for up to eight hours at a time.
