HerMoney
We all have good intentions of getting our finances in order, but after rent and bills and travel costs, we’re barely left with anything to play with. You buy one pair of shoes and before you know it, it’s the 4th of the month and you’re already down to your last tenner. Former finance reporter Jean Chatzky created HerMoney to improve the relationship women have with money, aiming to level the playing field for financial security, confidence and power, so that we can manage our money and focus on our lives. As such, Jean’s podcast speaks to a multitude of women who are experts in finance to give advice on looking after your money.

Modern Love
If you’ve got your sights set on love this year but are feeling a little jaded, then give Modern Love a listen. Created from The New York Times’ column of the same name, each week a different celebrity reads out a column from the archive. Each one is dedicated to love in some shape or form, from a woman who fell in love with a novice monk in Syria (read by Freaks and Geeks’ Linda Cardellini) to an essay about a carboholic who fell for a baker and his bread (read by Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson). And not all are about romantic love – a piece by the late Nina Riggs, read aloud by Kate Winslet, on finding the perfect sofa after her devastating diagnosis is a particular standout episode.

Hey, Girl.
Sometimes it’s just nice to hear from women who are thriving in their own way, no matter who they are. Author Alex Elle thinks so, and her podcast does just that: unites the voices of phenomenal women far and wide, with intimate and candid conversations, whether it’s her friends, family members or complete strangers.

How It Is
Let’s be honest, we’d listen to anything Reece Witherspoon tells us to do. So, it’s lucky that she’s made a new podcast with Diane Guerrero (you might remember her as Maritza Ramos in Orange is the New Black) focusing on first-person stories from high-profile women about their lived experiences. And if that hasn’t convinced you, just check out season one’s line-up: civil rights activist Tarana Burke, journalist Krista Tippett, actress Gabrielle Union, activist Glennon Doyle, investor Ellen Pao and actress and screenwriter Lena Waithe, covering topics such as anger, power, and freedom.

TedTalks
If you want to get inspired, there’s no better place to look than TedTalks. Whether it’s Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s iconic ‘We Should All Be Feminists’ speech or Meg Jay’s talk ‘Why 30 Is Not The New 20’, which aims to motivate twentysomethings into using their 20s as a formative period that sets the trajectory for the rest of their lives. In fact, if you need some inspiration on what TedTalks to start with, check out our list here.

The Science Of Happiness
The Science of Happiness refer to their guests as ‘Happiness Guinea Pigs’, as each one tests out a strategy for living a happy and meaningful life, and then reports back about whether it’s successful or not. The podcast, which is part of the Greater Good Science Centre at UC Berkley, aims to teach you research-tested strategies for living a better life, drawing on the science of compassion, gratitude, mindfulness and social connection.

The Venture
Everyone knows that when it comes to getting motivated in our careers, Richard Branson is the OG of entrepreneurial inspiration. Branson’s company, Virgin Atlantic, (you might have heard of it) have created a branded podcast called The Venture, looking at the voices of those who have successfully started and run a business, from the team behind The Onion, Sean Radd (the guy behind Tinder) and Reshman Saujani, who created the initiative Girls Who Code.

Therapy For Black Girls
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford’s website Therapy For Black Girls started as an essential online space dedicated to encouraging the mental wellbeing of Black women and girls. Often, the stigma surrounding mental health prevents Black women from getting the help they need, and so registered psychologist Dr. Bradford created her website to talk about mental health in a way that feels accessible. From that came her podcast of the same name. Each, week, Dr Bradford covers a different topic, from sexual freedom to body issues to life after divorce, to give Black women the guidance they need to face their issues and begin thriving in life.
