For Massage

The best massages I’ve had in London have been with Eve Khambatta at Triyoga – I’ve experienced back pain since my early teens and she’s the only person who has ever left my shoulders feeling completely knot free. She also offers a stomach massage, which is shockingly painful but leaves you feeling renewed – we hold so much tension in our stomachs without even knowing it. I’m also a big fan of Reflexions on Westbourne Grove, which does the best no-frills reflexology – I was there all the time towards the end of both of my pregnancies.

For Holistic Treatments

I’ve been seeing Gary Trainer, an incredible osteopath and acupuncturist, for about 20 years. He understands bodies like no one else I’ve ever met – his hands are magic. If I need a reset, I’ll book in with Ross Barr. He’s seen me through some challenging times, and always helps me feel calmer and more myself.

For Headspace

For a mental reset, it doesn’t get better than a sound bath. I like how different each experience can be. Sometimes, I’ll feel joyful afterwards; after others, I feel angry. It’s interesting to see how your emotions can shift and change. My favourite sound baths are with Aisha Carrington – her sessions combine music and sound healing and are very special. I also love Aaron Horn's soundbaths. Getting outside and spending time in nature is also hugely restorative. I grew up near Hampstead Heath and it’s still my favourite place for a walk. All the huge, old trees are so grounding – I think they serve as a good reminder to not let life overwhelm you. If I’m feeling stressed, a long power walk with a funny podcast always lifts my spirits. I also try to swim at the lido there a few times a week – regardless of the weather. I find the cold water helps my mental health and general resilience to life.

For Cardio

I worked for a while with Grazia at Drop Gym in Queen’s Park. She’s a mum and understands how differently most women need to train after having children – my body has completely changed since having kids, it feels stronger in some ways and less so in others. She gets that. I also love my local boxing gym, Storm. The whole team is great, especially the head coach Lonyo. Rathbone Boxing is also a firm favourite. I also enjoy spinning – Psycle is my go-to. For me, a good workout is all about the music. I can’t stand basic gym music and I’m happiest when I’m working out to 90s hip hop or music from the early 2000s. Like many people, I bought a Peloton at the beginning of lockdown, but have since let it gather dust in a corner. In the last couple of years, I’ve realised that my favourite forms of exercise are all body based – walking, swimming, Pilates and yoga.

For Workout Gear

I’d love to be the kind of person who cares about my workout gear and wears perfect sets, but in reality I’m mostly in old Nike or LNDR leggings or Pangaia jogging bottoms. I like caps, and I have a few favourites from Refined Spirit and the Museum of Peace & Quiet. For yoga, I use a Yogibare mat – I love the ethos behind the brand – and I enjoy using my yoga wheel. I’ve been practising yoga since I was a child and I like that the wheel challenges me in a new way and takes me outside of my comfort zone, which can only be a good thing. For home workouts, I can’t be without Bala’s sliding discs and ankle and wrist weights. My much-loved Passenger sherpa-lined robe and C-Skins boots and gloves are essential for my outdoor swims once the temperature drops.

For A Spa Day

I love Akasha at Café Royal – the hammam experience is out of this world – and a 90-minute deep tissue massage at the Bulgari spa. You don’t need to spend a fortune in London for some TLC though. I’m a huge fan of the York Hall Spa in Bethnal Green. I used to live nearby and would go all the time. It’s affordable and has a lovely atmosphere. At home, I swear by essential oils to create a spa-like atmosphere. Anatome’s Overactive Mind Sensory Point oil never fails to soothe – I apply it to my pulse points every evening before bed.

For Facials

I love facials. My go-to is Tarryn Warren at Bodyism. Her bespoke facial is a game-changer – she tailors the 75-minute appointment to whatever she thinks your skin needs the most. Every treatment also includes the Body Ballancer – a wearable massage suit which aids lymphatic drainage to aid detoxification, lower cortisol, aid sleep and improve digestion. I’ll also pop in to Facegym now and again – it’s the best for a pre-party glow-up.

For An Escape

I recently went on a yoga retreat with Yoga on the Lane and Elisa de Grey, who is a brilliant teacher from what I think is the best yoga studio in London. Based in Dalston, Yoga on the Lane is a gorgeous, light-filled studio that teaches primarily vinyasa-focused classes. It has a genius floor-warming system – the perfect companion to a winter savasana. The retreat – which was in northern Ibiza – was the perfect mixture of challenging and relaxing, I’d go back in a heartbeat. I also love The Well in Oslo. It's not so much a fitness retreat but is the best spa hotel I’ve ever been to, with hundreds of saunas and steam rooms.
