Dear Readers,
If April had a theme, it would be 'inspiration'. The economic climate feels rather gloomy but this month, more than ever, we’re combining frivolity with some incredible stories in every category.
Next week, our team is venturing across the country to shoot two spectacular campaigns – one at Wilderness Reserve that will get you excited for summer adventures, another at Ascot Racecourse that will inspire you ahead of the season’s biggest events. Our charity sale for the Royal Marsden is also underway – many of Instagram’s most recognisable names have donated designer accessories that you’ll soon be able to bid on via the SL Community. Not only can you contribute to a worthy cause, you could also nab yourself a pre-loved Gucci bag for less. Over on SLMan, ultra-marathon runner William Goodge is our latest guest editor – if the London marathon is something you're participating in, no one will inspire you more than the guy who, throughout the month, will be running from Huntington Beach, California, to Manhattan, New York, all in the name of charity.
UltraLuxe is one of my favourite SL supplements. Our third edition goes live at the end of the month, and this season we’re covering once-in-a-lifetime road trips, some serious high rollers in the art world, the coolest designer accessories for summer and plenty more. The ultimate dose of glamour and escapism, I’m particularly looking forward to taking a tour around one of the UK’s most exciting new homes.
If you can’t wait for April to get underway, then our March highlights include the second episode in our neurodiversity podcast series – this time focusing on autism – and an interview with Charley Dean Sayers, a young woman who talks poignantly about her transition from male to female on the SheerLuxe Show. In the worlds of fashion and beauty, interviews with industry powerhouses Denise Christensen (of Remain and Rotate) and Shani Darden – whose cleanser I swear by – will make you want to level up your career along with your skincare routine and wardrobe.
Personally, after a three-year postponement, I’m finally seeing Elton John’s farewell tour this month – I think few things will be quite as inspirational as watching the septuagenarian rule the stage at the age of 76. He, however, has very little on the 102-year-old, inimitable and iconic, Iris Apfel – who has just designed a collection for Ruggable. A flamingo, banana and palm leaf printed rug now has a home in my home and if you’re after a bold interiors update, the collaboration is about as inspiring as it gets. Finally, I’m headed to Mallorca for the Easter weekend, and intend to spend five days eating my way round the island – El Txoko, Forn and Fosh have all been reserved well ahead of time – all in the name of research, of course.
