9 Hot Cocktails To Make At Home

If you're not a fan of mulled wine but like how it warms you up in winter there are plenty of alternatives. From hot buttered gin to boozy hot chocolate, here are nine warming cocktail recipes to try at home.

Mirabeau Winter Punch: Mirabeau

Ingredients
750ml of apple juice
150ml of Mirabeau Dry Gin
2 cloves
2 crushed cardamom pods
2 cloves of star anise
1 cinnamon stick
1 tsp of juniper berries
1 twist of orange peel
1 twist of lemon peel
4 small cinnamon sticks
1/2 an apple, sliced
A sprig of thyme
Method
Step 1

Gently simmer all the ingredients together in a pan – except the gin – for two minutes. Then add the gin.

Step 2

Serve in a mug or an insulated tumbler, and garnish with slices of apple and a cinnamon stick.

Nutella Martini: Tiptree

60ml of Tiptree Salted Caramel Vodka
250ml of milk
3 tbsp of Nutella
1 tbsp of syrup of choice
Handful of chopped nuts
Method
Step 1

Simmer the milk in a pan until warm, then add in the Nutella and stir until melted. Leave to cool for a minute, then pour in the vodka.

Step 2

Cover the martini glass rim with syrup, then dip it into the chopped nuts before pouring the drink in.

Mulled Cider: The Barrington Boar

20ml of Somerset Cider Brandy's Ice Cider
25ml of spiced rum
100ml of apple juice
Pear slices to garnish
Method
Step 1

Heat all the ingredients together for a few minutes in a pan, then serve in a glass or mug. Garnish with pear slices.

Diablesse Clementine Spiced Hot Chocolate: Diablesse Rum

35ml of Diablesse Clementine Spiced Rum
35g of dark chocolate, broken into chunks
100ml of milk
25ml of single or double cream
10ml of Ancho Reyes Liqueur
2 marshmallows
A generous squirt of whipped cream
A small pinch of sea salt
Method
Step 1

Gently heat the chocolate and milk in a pan, stirring until all the chocolate has melted.

Step 2

Once the milk is steaming, remove it from the heat and allow to cool for a couple of minutes, then stir in the cream.

Step 3

Add the rum, Ancho Reyes liqueur and salt to a heat-proof glass and stir. Pour the cocktail in, and top with whipped cream and marshmallows.

Casa Earl Grey Tea: Casamigos

35ml of Casamigos Blanco Tequila
30ml of unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 tsp of honey lavender syrup
175ml of earl grey tea
Lemon and lavender, to garnish
Method
Step 1

Mix all the ingredients together with a cocktail shaker for a few seconds, then pour into a glass and garnish with lemon and a sprig of lavender.

Hot Buttered Gin: 58 Gin

50ml of cloudy apple juice
10ml of Monin gingerbread syrup
10ml of Benedictine
1 tsp of honey
1 tsp of butter
Gingerbread, to garnish
Method
Step 1

Warm all the ingredients in a small saucepan, pour into a teacup and garnish with gingerbread.

Bombay Bramble Mulled Wine: Bombay Sapphire

50ml of Bombay Bramble Gin
125ml of red wine 
10ml of brown sugar syrup
1 orange slice
1 pinch of cinnamon 
Raspberries and blackberries, to garnish
Method
Step 1

Pour all the ingredients into a pan and simmer on a low heat for a few minutes until the flavours have infused. Serve in a tall glass and garnish with a few raspberries and/or blackberries.

Beefeater Pink Strawberry Hot Orchard: Beefeater

200ml of cloudy apple juice
15ml of vanilla syrup
3 cloves
1 tsp of orange bitters
1 clove of star anise
1 cinnamon stick to garnish
Method
Step 1

Add all the ingredients into a pan and simmer over a low heat for 15-20 minutes.

Step 2

Leave to cool for a few minutes, then strain into a glass. Top with a cinnamon stick.

Mulled Apple Toddy: Black Cow Vodka
