Interiors: Get The Look
“The scheme was driven by our desire to keep the room feeling open and light-filled, but also respond to the clients’ requirement that it be practical to entertain the entire extended family while retaining a sense of intimacy,” Irene explains. “We approached it with a very fresh set of colours to maximise the beautiful light streaming into the Crittall windows. We used a combination of pastel colours with navy blues and neutrals to pull together an unusual and happy scheme, with the restored original floor as a beautiful backdrop that adds a sense of history.”

“We love combining subtle colours and textures to create a more layered feel to an interior,” Irene reveals. “Not only does it give your eye something to discover, it also adds a sense of softness, comfort and luxury that is hard to achieve when everything is made from the same material. In this detail, you can see a neutral, textured fabric covering the rear of the shelves. The wooden shelves are treated in a grey maple veneer with the outer framework in a dark stained walnut veneer, giving it a contemporary edge. In a room where many other things are vying for attention, this humbly fades into the background until your eye picks up on the detail and thinks, ‘Ooh, that's a nice touch’. We like these little touches – in fact, it’s all these little things together that make it feel like home.”
