The SheerLuxe Guide To AW25
The Bag
AW25 bags are all about ease – think slouchy, squishy styles that feel as good as they look. At Balmain, oversized buckle bags gave the brand’s signature polish a more relaxed feel. Fendi also leaned into plush textures and curved silhouettes, while Stella McCartney’s roomy, padded totes struck the perfect balance between fashion and function.
The Colour
Brown is going nowhere for AW25. Rich, warm and endlessly wearable, Christopher Esber put tonal dressing centre stage, with layered shades of chocolate creating depth and texture. Victoria Beckham played with deep espresso tones, while Stella McCartney’s figure-skimming dresses in earthy browns added a refined, understated edge. It’s luxe, grown-up and proof that brown is anything but boring.
The Boots
You heard it here first – slouchy, buccaneer-style boots are the hero silhouette for AW25. At Balmain, they came tall and oversized – wide cuffs, soft leather and a nonchalant slouch added interest to tailoring and minidresses. Shorter versions were spotted at Isabel Marant, where the brand’s signature Parisian cool was dialled up with relaxed silhouettes and lived-in textures.
The Move
Sarah Burton’s debut at Givenchy marked a new chapter for the house. The inaugural collection balanced sharp tailoring with fluid silhouettes and there was an obvious playfulness in the details –specifically oversized bows, embellishment and bold accessories. A confident and compelling introduction.
The Shoe
From chunky brogues to smart loafers, these classic staples are getting a high-fashion upgrade this season. At Miu Miu, they came worn-in and preppy, grounded by delicate skirts and oversized knits. Calvin Klein kept things clean and minimal, while Rabanne added a futuristic twist with high-shine finishes. Style them with a silky ribbed sock for extra credit.
The Accessory
This season’s belts are all about more is more. At Schiaparelli, multi belts cinched in the models’ waists and added extra drama, while Jil Sander played with layering, stacking slim leather belts over dresses and coats. At Max Mara, utility-inspired styles were slung low over knitwear and outerwear – an evolution to the 90s minimalism that’s dominated past seasons. Whether bold and statement or subtly functional, expect belts to be a key styling piece for AW25.
The Trend
Faux fur has a bit more edge this season. Gucci’s gone glamorous – rich tones and plush textures nod to 70s glam – while Topshop’s stylists teamed oversized shaggy coats with crisp tailoring and slouchy denim. Meanwhile, back at Stella McCartney, mini faux fur coats were belted tight, injecting a cooler vibe into the luxe layering.
The Inspiration
Stella McCartney hit the sweet spot between sustainability and style this season. The designer’s latest collection fused 1970s rock ‘n’ roll nostalgia with future-forward innovation – think leather tailoring, regenerative knits and oversized suiting. The vibe was effortless, quietly rebellious and proof that planet-friendly fashion can still feel elevated and cool.
The Silhouette
AW25 has taken a distinctly ladylike turn – cinched-in waists, strong shoulders and the return of the pencil skirt all signal a return to powerful, feminine dressing. At Magda Butrym, the look was exaggerated by sculptural tailoring and dramatic hourglass shapes, while Balmain doubled down with bold shoulders and nipped-in waists.
The High-Street Collection
Whistles’ Autumn/Winter 2025 collection is a standout this season – striking the perfect balance between ease and edge. We’ll be styling the floral dresses with knee-high boots and oversized coats for a modern take on bohemia, while signature leather and reworked tailoring bring a fresh attitude to everyday dressing. Outerwear is key: we’ll be layering the chocolate suede trench over relaxed knits, and throwing the off-white shearling cocoon coat over denim for a high-low contrast. With rich textures, softened silhouettes and a subtle nod to the 1970s, this is understated, high-street luxury at its best.
