THE BOOK:

The Gourmand’s Lemon

Following the success of The Gourmand’s Egg tome, the team’s second volume with Taschen celebrates the versatility and complexity of the king of citrus. A favourite subject of art history’s giants, the lemon captivates in the still lifes of Old Masters and inspired the breakthroughs of modern visionaries like Picasso, Matisse and Warhol. Accompanying these lemon anecdotes are a foreword by chef and acclaimed food writer Simon Hopkinson and an introduction by art critic and author Jennifer Higgie alongside more than 60 lemon-infused recipes across global cuisines for every occasion – including sauces, cocktails and puds – all with photography by Bobby Doherty.

THE HOTEL:

The Emory

It’s a big month for Maybourne, the group behind Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley. First up, its fourth London hotel, The Emory, will launch mid-April. Designed by the late Richard Rogers, The Emory will be London’s first all-suite hotel. Within, you’ll find abc kitchens, the new restaurant by revered French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Vongerichten’s original abc kitchen has been a fixture of New York’s dining scene since 2010. The menu at the London outpost will include some New York signatures: think crab toast with green chilli, dill and lemon aioli; crispy fish tacos served with aioli and cabbage-apple slaw; and char-grilled beef tenderloin with chimichurri and lime. Then there’s SURRENNE, a next-generation wellbeing members’ club in Knightsbridge. A global first, there will be a Longevity Clinic in partnership with tech pioneers Virtusan and a cast of best-in-class wellbeing experts, including the first Tracy Anderson studio in the UK. Guests of The Berkeley and The Emory will receive complimentary access to SURRENNE as part of their stay.
