Sheerluxe’s Royal Wedding Best Dressed List

It goes without saying that all eyes were on Meghan Markle this weekend, but the bride wasn’t the only one pulling out all the sartorial stops for the royal wedding. Stylish guests turned up in their droves to wow viewers with an eclectic mix of heady florals, pretty pastels and form-fitting block colours; here are our royal wedding winners…

Carey Mulligan

Actress Carey Mulligan proved florals for spring weddings are anything but twee, with a heavily embroidered form-fitting tulle Erdem dress. High neck detail and a thick black waist belt add a bit of drama, whilst a subtle hair piece defied convention.

Carole Middleton

The Duchess of Cambridge’s mother stuck to the if-it-ain’t-broke mantra, wearing a tapered blue Catherine Walker dress and coat combination reminiscent of her look from her daughter’s big day. Teamed with a statement blue hat and pared-back accessories, we applaud this grown-up, appropriate and understated look.

Amal Clooney

Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney proved mustard yellow isn’t just for gen Z in this long Stella McCartney number. A cinched waist and ruffle train detail adds curves, whilst a lattice veil once again adds drama.

Gina Torres

Suits fans relished seeing the show’s stars arriving for the big event, and actress Gina Torres’s red lattice maxi was a firm favourite from their sartorial offerings. Designed by Christos Costarellos, she teamed the look with towering pumps and a clashing pale pink sun hat.

Sofia Wellesley

Yet more confirmation that a floral maxi is this year’s wedding guest look of choice, the smart structure of this Red Valentino design prevents it being overly feminine. We love the summery finish on this stylish head piece.

Julia Carey

James Corden’s wife confirmed that sometimes less is more when it comes to wedding dressing. A shift dress with accent sleeves teamed with matchy-matchy accessories creates a pulled-together, grown-up look we love.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex

Sophie wins most appropriately dressed; full bodied skirt and embellished top by British tailor and couturier Suzannah scores points for separates, whilst a coordinating Jane Taylor hat with feather trimming nails the oft-misjudged headwear look.

Charlotte Riley

Tom Hardy’s wife went for a less spring-like approach than other floral offerings, teaming her dark, floral-print maxi by The Vampire's Wife with matching black accessories. Top tip for adding drama to a wedding guest look a la Charlotte: a lattice veil injects glamorous, vintage-vibes.

Lady Kitty Spencer

Dolce and Gabbana muse Kitty Spencer opted for Italian glamour for the big event, proving unconventional green and orange has springtime appeal. We love the statement square neckline and velvet details adding a modern touch.

The Duchess of Cambridge

Never one to steal the limelight, this wasn’t Kate’s McQueen coat’s first rodeo. Her third outing in the piece, Katherine opted for a statement floral-adorned hat and pared back accessories for a polished look that didn’t detract from Meghan’s moment.
