My style is best described as ‘effortless chic’. I love to wear classic, timeless pieces that work for everyday life and are always comfortable. I feel most like myself when I’m dressed in simple black and white or an outfit made up of tonal layering.
Instagram has had such influence on my style. I was a bit late to the party, but when I first began posting outfit photos on my Instagram account (@Lisa.Pintaud) less than a year ago, I was immediately drawn to the minimalist and timeless accounts on there. I love tonal dressing and mixing different textures, so I’m always saving inspiration for future looks. Rikke Krefting, Felicia Akerstrom and Lovisa Barkman are some of my favourites. Similarly, I’m inspired by both London and Paris, where I split my time between. Being exposed to the people, architecture and culture in these cities is so great for outfit ideas. For example, while walking my dog in the park recently I saw a girl wearing the most amazing grey cashmere set with a black t-shirt and trainers. It made me look through my wardrobe to recreate a similar look.
My go-to pieces this season are mainly wardrobe staples, like jeans, quality sweaters, and great boots. They’re all so easy to wear, and versatile enough to mix and match with multiple things in my wardrobe. I love my grey straight jeans from Toteme – they are probably my most worn piece in my wardrobe. I’ll be styling them with an oversized roll neck knit and chunky boots.
The next big purchase I make will probably be a classic Chanel flap bag. It’s been on my wish list for a long time and I’m thinking of investing in one this autumn.
My style icons are Pernille Teisbaek and Leia Sfez. Pernille for her minimalist Scandi style, and Leia for effortless Parisian elegance. Both of their styles are the perfect mix and their outfits are probably the ones which feature most often in my saved tab.
The sentimental piece I own is my custom-made engagement ring. My other half and I designed it using his late grandmother’s diamonds, and a family friend then helped us to create the perfect ring for me. I only saw the result when he proposed. I love it.
Some of my favourite brands include Khaite, Totême, Bottega Veneta, Celine and The Row for a splurge, but there are plenty more I could name! Arket and Cos are two of my top choices from the high street, as they’re based around the Scandi minimalist aesthetic that I love so much. They always have such effortless pieces and you can always find great quality basics for great prices. LouLou Studio is a lesser-known label everyone should have on their radar – I honestly want to buy everything! Chloé Harrouche, who is behind the brand, designs incredible cosy knitwear in neutral hues and classic shapes. The Deva oversized cashmere sweater is currently on my Wishlist.
When it comes to sustainable brands, check out House of Dagmar and St Agni. St. Agni is an Australian brand that only uses locally sourced leather and fabrics to minimise the impact on the environment. I love their signature simplistic cuts, natural fabrics and minimal detailing. Sustainability can sometimes feel a little overwhelming, but I read an interview with the three founders of House of Dagmar and was inspired by their response to the fashion industry. It made me want to learn more about being a more ethical shopper.
Invest in the pieces you will wear the most. Classic handbags, timeless outerwear, quality jeans and knitwear, as well as jewellery and shoes to elevate your look. I often splash out on cashmere jumpers as I love the feel of them, and my Cartier Un Clou ring which, although it was expensive, is something I wear every day.
My shopping philosophy is ‘less is more’. I’m no longer an impulsive shopper, and I always think twice before buying something. Ask yourself, “How often will I wear this and will I love it for years to come?” I don't mind spending a little more on something I know I will cherish for a long time. I’ve also started educating myself about the fashion industry, in particular about fabrics and how clothes are made, which has definitely changed the way I shop. For example, I used to buy into a lot of trends or snap something up just because it was on sale, only to end up wearing it once or sometimes not at all. Nowadays, I focus on high quality staples that make me feel good when I wear them.
My favourite look from the shoot was the first one we shot. I’m wearing black Filippa K trousers, a black Arket Blazer, a striped House of Dagmar jumper over my shoulders and my favourite Bottega Veneta boots. It’s so wearable and works for so many occasions.
I won’t be buying into trends this season. I don't really follow what’s ‘in’ – instead I’m building a capsule wardrobe and investing in timeless items. I like to reinterpret the classics, reusing what I already have in my wardrobe – so maybe I’ll update a few staples here and there, like a trench coat or jeans, but that’ll be it.
There are no rules when it comes to personal style. The most important thing is you feel comfortable in what you’re wearing – when you feel good, you look good.
