Peter Hawkings is now in his second season at Tom Ford, and while he’s stayed true to the brand’s signature, on-trend cuts and modern design details brought things right up to date. From satin and silk suiting to faux fur jackets and embellished details, there were plenty of Tom Ford references to enjoy – including a lot of purple, a shade to look out for in AW24.

Gucci
A masterclass in colour, Sabato De Sarno’s third collection for Gucci was everything we wanted. Featuring plenty of leather – from a deep red oversized jacket to pale yellow coats and a camel co-ord, there was a lot to love.

Emporio Armani
Best theatrical finish has to go to the Emporio Armani show. To close, the house called on umbrellas and an enchanting sprinkling of snow, which added an even more dazzling vibe to the already incredible collection that had made its way down the runway.
Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini
Silky, vibrant and cool-girl-coded, Philosophy’s show was a fashion dopamine hit. Bold and bright, our favourite touches were the silky bags that either complimented or contrasted the colour-blocked looks. The vinyl jackets also caught our eye – look out for the trend next season.

EMPORIO ARMANI
Bottega Veneta
Creative director Matthieu Blazy experimented with striking silhouettes and textures for AW24 and we loved how this contrasted with the more traditional tailoring and accessories. Plus, the earthy toned colour palette acted as a reminder that red and silver aren’t the only shades that make a statement.

Colourful Layers
A trend you can embrace even now, colourful turtlenecks cropped up at several shows – Maison Margiela, Bottega and Calcaterra included. An easy way to add interest to your everyday look, try brands like COS and ARKET for bright base layers.

Tux Jackets
This season, several designers chose to breathe new life into smoking and tuxedo jackets. From cropped styles at Valentino to strong shoulders at Dolce & Gabbana and a more fitted take at Tom Ford, we finally have proof that it can work for a range of body types.

Refined Tailoring
With Italy being the home of tailoring, we weren’t hard pressed to find a great selection of coats, blazers, shirts and trousers. Our favourite pieces? The khaki shirt and trousers set at MM6 Maison Margiela, the cropped wool coat at Philosophy and the boxy blazers and suits at Tod’s.

THE STYLE STAR
Leia Sfez
It’s rare that one street style star stands out above the rest, and while there was plenty of great fashion on the streets of Milan, special mention goes to Leia Sfez for putting such a cool spin on otherwise simple pieces. Vinyl is having a moment, and this blue midi-length skirt is such a grown-up way to wear the trend. Paired with a navy knit, the head-to-toe Gucci look was complemented by deep red accessories and blue shoes – elevated and effortless.
