Key Takeaways From London Fashion Week

Call us bias for declaring London Fashion Week our favourite above New York, Paris and Milan but from the runways at Burberry and Erdem to the street style and biggest trends, it’s clear the capital is bursting with fresh ideas and creativity for SS24. These were some of the key takeaways…

TOVE

The Show

We’re big fans of Tove, so it’s probably no surprise to hear the brand’s feminine, modern-minimalist take on ready-to-wear was one of our favourite shows of the week. Founders Camille Perry and Holly Wright met while they were both on the buying and design team at Topshop, and their SS24 show featured the signature silhouettes they’ve since become known for, offering everything from jeans to jumpsuits and longline cream coats. Accessories were minimal with kitten heels or flats featuring heavily.

The Campaign

It was impossible to miss Burberry transforming Bond Street into Burberry – and it’s safe to say Daniel Lee’s second collection for the heritage house was well-received. On the runway, we saw Lee continue to move away from classic house motifs – think obvious logos and branding – towards modern subtlety and heritage. For the first time, trenches included more graphic printing, chain details and a neutral palette dotted with pops of new-gen Burberry blue.

The Trend

Florals for spring? Groundbreaking, we know – but that didn't stop houses like Erdem, Richard Quinn or David Koma from offering a fresh take on the trend. Erdem went big with oversized coats in collaboration with Barbour, while Richard Quinn went sculptural and conceptual.

ERDEM

The Hotspot

Douglas McMaster – the chef founder of zero-waste restaurant Silo in Hackney – was at the helm of the pop-up café space at MATCHES’ Carlos Place Townhouse. Offering an exclusive, zero-waste menu throughout Fashion Week, the collab aligns with MATCHES’ own-brand Raey’s core messages of sustainability. From pastries to drinks and light bites, stop by while it’s still on.

The Hero Piece

Killer heels were a rare sight this week, with plenty of designers preferring to show flats and kitten heels. The standout piece, however, was Erdem’s bow detail kitten heel slingbacks. Shown in a range of colours, expect to see them all over your feed come spring.

The Silhouettes

We loved seeing so many designers lean into couture-style pieces to add a bit of drama to the runway. Susan Fang, Molly Goddard and Richard Quinn weren’t shy – we saw plenty of volume, tulle fabric and exaggerated shapes.

The Party

NET-A-PORTER and Stella McCartney joined forces at The Box Soho to host celebrities and influencers at their Fashion Week opening party. Stella herself sported an expertly tailored grey pinstripe suit from her own brand, while guests like Bettina Looney and Jared Leto opted for dramatics in head-to-toe red.

The Street Style

As the official TikTok Publishing Partners of London Fashion Week, our team was on the ground to capture some of the best looks. Our key takeaways? Transitional heroes – think trenches, macs and light winter coats – will always have their place, as will double denim and plenty of leather.
