THURSDAY

Ginny & Georgia, Netflix

Netflix’s small-town drama returns with more secrets, scandal and high-school chaos. Now newly married, Georgia is trying to keep her past buried, while Ginny is working out who she really is – and who she wants to be. Expect fast-paced twists, emotional blow-ups and some seriously juicy storylines. Mountainhead, 9pm, Sky Atlantic

From Jesse Armstrong, the creator of Succession, comes a new satirical examination of the superrich. Mountainhead is a film, rather than a series, and stars Steve Carell, Cory Michael Smith, Ramy Youssef and Jason Schwatrzman as a group of billionaire friends who get together against the backdrop of a rolling international crisis.

FRIDAY

Dangerous Animals

This tense survival horror from Australian director Sean Byrne (The Loved Ones) is a sun-drenched nightmare set off the Gold Coast. Hassie Harrison (Yellowstone) stars as Zephyr, a free-spirited surfer who becomes the captive of Tucker (Jai Courtney, The Suicide Squad), a shark-obsessed serial killer who believes the ocean demands human sacrifices. With real shark footage and minimal CGI, the film channels the suspense of Jaws while delivering one of horror’s most chilling new villains. Premiered at Cannes, Dangerous Animals is a lean, stylish thriller that’s more about tension than gore, thankfully.

Ballerina

Fans of John Wick, take note: this female-led spin-off is every bit as stylish – and savage – as the original. Ana de Armas (No Time to Die) stars as a ballerina-turned-assassin out for revenge after her family is murdered. Set between John Wick: Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, it features appearances from Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane and the late Lance Reddick (The Wire) in one of his final roles. Come for the balletic fight scenes, stay for the world-building and high-gloss action.

SUNDAY

The Gold, 9pm, BBC1

The crime drama about the 1983 Brink's-Mat robbery is back, inspired by some of the theories around what happened to the rest of the £26m gold bullion heist that was never recovered by police. In this first episode, the police chase the other half of the stolen gold when it resurfaces, while in Tenerife, John Palmer's successful timeshare business starts to attract unwanted attention.
