MUA Zoe Taylor Shares Her Beauty Dozen

Make-up artist Zoe Taylor regularly paints the faces of A-listers and industry insiders including Lucy Boynton and Lily James. She has an effortless approach to beauty that we love, and is well-known for the seriously chic and pristine make-up looks she creates. Here are the top products she’s never without, from the glossy skin perfector to the mascara she buys in bulk…

For Believable Colour…

I swear by Chanel’s Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzing Base. Sometimes I mix it into my Vita Liberata to give an all-over warmth; and I often use it on its own, in place of a blusher. It works well on lids too, for a creamy eyeshadow. To be honest, it’s one of my all-time favourite products due to its versatility and ease – if you’ve never tried it, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

For Soft Feline Flicks…

Elizabeth Arden’s Smokey Eye Pencil in Espresso has a powder texture, and I use it to shape smokey eyes – mine and my clients’ – for a more diffused finish. It’s a softer colour than black, so it’s less ageing and heavy.

Elizabeth Arden High Drama Eyeliner, £17

For A Warm Glow…

Vita Liberata’s Beauty Blur is a real go-to for me. I love it – nothing makes my skin look more glowy, youthful and fresh. Every time I put it on, someone comments on my skin. I couldn’t live without it now and I use it on my clients for unbeatable luminosity.

Vita Liberata Beauty Blur, £29.95

For Softer, Plumper Lips…

I use the Tinker Taylor Lip Kit (scrub, oil and balm) every day to keep my lips hydrated and fresh. I love buffing my lips as it really seems to plump them up and increase the colour. The oil is heavenly and sinks straight in for a hit of hydration, and the balm is really nourishing. I use the balm as a top-up throughout the day – unless it’s a red lip kind of day, of course.

Tinker Taylor Lip Kit, £64

For Day & Night Eye Looks…

Surratt’s Eye Artistique Eyeshadows in Brun Noir and Crème de la Crème are so soft and easy to blend into a smokey eye for daytime and, when you want something more dramatic, night-time too. They’re very creamy, so easy to build upon and layer up depending on the look you’re going for.

Surratt Artisitique Eyeshadow, £18

For Sculpted Arches…

Glossier’s Brow Flick in Blonde is great for thickening up my brows. I love how detailed it is and how realistic each stroke is. It never leaves behind any patches or dullness, just a perfectly sculpted arch.

Glossier Brow Flick, £15

For A Red Pout…

I’m never without my Chanel Rouge Allure Lip Ink Fusion in True Red. It is the longest-wearing lip colour I’ve ever found. The colour is beautiful – often I just wear this with no eye for a really classic look. It’s the most perfect red I know and it suits everyone.

Chanel Rouge Allure Liquid Lipstick in True Red, £31

For Full-Fat Lashes…

This cult mascara from Sisley is brilliant for building up volume and drama. My lashes aren’t the best, but this genuinely makes them look twice as thick, adding visible density and bulk in just a few sweeps. Expensive, but so worth it.

Sisley So Curl Mascara, £45

For A Youthful Flush…

When I do use blusher, it’s always Illamasqua’s Colour Veil in Frisson. It sits perfectly on a light or full coverage base. I love the colour; it reminds me of an English rose. It’s a bit tacky when applied, but once you have blended it and it sets, it really doesn’t move and looks so natural.

Illamasqua Colour Veil Blusher in Frisson, £17 (was £20)

For Fuller Lips…

If I really want to define my lips, I’d always use NARS’s Precision Liner in Holy Red before my Chanel Lip Ink. I love the texture of this liner; it’s perfect for cheating in any unsymmetrical sides without ever looking too harsh or overly sculpted.

Nars Precision Lipliner in Holy Red, £19

For Fool-Proof Eyeliner…

Eyeko’s Sport Waterproof Eyeliner in Black is my favourite. I put this on at 7am in the morning and it is still in my waterline when I go to bed – I promise! It is thick, inky black and never, ever flakes.

Eyeko Sport Waterproof Eyeliner in Black, £16

For Smokey Eyes…

This Victoria Beckham Smoky Eye Brick in Tweed was originally in my work bag, but I stole it out of there and now it’s permanently in my kit. I love the rich, warm browns and terracotta colours; they remind me of a hot Marrakesh night and are so easy to blend together. They also help me to revive and disguise my exhausted eyes by adding a hint of colour.

Victoria Beckham Smoky Eye Brick in Tweed, £48
