01

Give Them Breathing Room

“You should aim to get your brows done about once a month. Unless you have dark hair – and a lot of it – just make sure you have a clean-up instead of shaping every time if you go. If you have sparse brows or have over-tweezed them, it’s best to leave them alone for at least six to eight weeks to see what grows back. Don’t get them done too soon as afterwards, more often than not, a salon will remove the little growing hairs that have just begun to poke through. Instead, allow these hairs to grow out first – they’ll be thicker and fuller in the long term.” Vaishaly, founder of Vaishaly Clinic

02

Don’t Use Castor Oil

“Using castor oil to improve brow hair growth is total nonsense. My clients have used Revitabrow and Lillash, which has definitely made a difference. Most people will begin to see more baby hairs grow through as existing hairs grow longer. In some cases, it can even help to cover gaps, but you must be patient with these products and use them consistently for a couple of months to see results.” Vaishaly

03

Give Them The Same TLC As Your Hair

“Condition your brow hairs in the same way as you would the hair on your head. This is especially important if you’re using brow gel regularly, as it can dry the hairs and cause them to fall out. Also, try to reduce the number of times you brush them with a comb if they are fine as they can break.” Vaishaly

04

Consider Cosmetic Treatments

“To cover gaps, define or fill in over-plucked brows, consider tinting, lamination or microblading. Tinting is one of the quickest ways to achieve thicker, natural-looking brows and is especially effective for those with lighter brow hairs. Brow lamination works best for those who have several wayward hairs. The treatment redirects and sets the hairs into your desired shape to achieve better fullness. If you’re looking for something with more of a permanent feel, try microblading. This consists of creating fine, hair-like strokes in the skin with a hand-held tool, which is then filled with pigment. As it’s such a precise technique, you get a very natural finish that lasts for months.” Vanita Parti MBE, CEO of Blink Brow Bar

05

Leave Threading To The Professionals

“Threading is always best done professionally, but if you want to keep brows in shape in between appointments, tweezers offer the best control and precision. Blink Brow Bar’s Super Grip Tweezers are great for avoiding breakages and ingrown hairs. Hold the skin taut and tight at the roots, then pull in the direction of the hair’s natural growth.” Vanita

Draw Yourself A Guideline

“The best and easiest thing to do with tweezing is to draw your desired shape and thickness on with a brow pencil, then tweeze around it. This way you won’t over pluck or disrupt the core shape. Pluck around the area to get rid of excess hair and, once you’re satisfied, brush the hairs upwards. If you feel confident, you can even trim any hairs poking above the hairline with some sharp brow scissors.” – Vaishaly

07

Keep Them Full

“The front part of the brow is always heavier than from the middle and the ends. This is because the hairs there grow upwards, so it’s difficult to know which ones to take out. From that point, the hairs grow across the brow, making it easier to know which hairs to remove. I suggest following the natural brow bone as a guideline and keeping your brows on the fuller side as it’s much more complementary.” – Vaishaly

08

Fake It With Make-Up

“Make-up is the best way to fake a fuller look. Pigmented brow gels are a great place to start as they can disguise sparseness while also defining the shape and setting the hairs in place. You can also use a pencil to fill in the gaps, and if you don’t have gaps and hairs are lighter in colour, all you need is a great brow powder.” – Vaishaly

09

Don't Go Too Dark

“Always match your brow product to the exact colour of your brow hair – going too dark can lead to your brows looking heavy or too strong for the rest of your make-up. This is where you might want to look at slightly green, grey or ash-toned products, because often brows are slightly different shades, and it's these varying tones that can fake the illusion of extra hair. I really rate Suqqu’s Framing Eyebrow Liquid Pen and all of Charlotte Tilbury’s brow products. Benefit is a great option for a vast shade selection.” – Jessica Kell, make-up artist

Set Them In Place

“Brow soaps and wax are ideal for those with wayward hairs that need taming. Both formulas keep arches in place for hours. Just don’t oversaturate the soap or wax – otherwise, it will never fully set and you’ll be left combing them through for ages. You’ll also need a good setting mist to activate the soap and a spoolie brush to comb the formula through evenly. There’s no set application rule, just make sure you apply both to a clean brow and treat it as a base product for a cleaner, more defined finish.” – Camilla Hewitt, make-up artist
