4 Beauty Looks We’re Loving This Month

From statement lashes to burnished smokey eyes, here are four beauty looks inspiring us right now – and how to replicate them…

Ash K Holm

The Look: Spider Lashes

How To Do It: We love the pairing of these chunky, feline flicks with spidery lashes. Using only YSL products, make-up artist Ash started by prepping the skin to achieve an overall dewiness. Eyes were built up with taupe tones, using a little on the lower lash, too, before Ash drew on the flicks. To get the same, flawless result, start with the inner corner of the eye, drawing the thinnest line possible to the centre of the lids before stopping. This gives you time to pause and review the start of the line and perfect if needed. Then move over to the flick before filling in the rest of the lid. As for lashes, falsies were applied here, but that doesn’t mean you can’t replicate the effect with a good mascara. Run the wand through lashes several times before using the tip to create a thicker, clumpier effect at the inner and outer corners. Using this angle will build up definition and thickness. Keep cheeks flushed with a peachy, cream blush, and lips pared back with a soft, pink tone.

Jose Corella

The Look: Red, Smokey Eye

How To Do It: Think smokey eyes, but with a red, pinkish twist. Instead of standard black, make-up artist Jose loaded lids with a shimmery red shadow, taking a little under the lower lash line, too. Create your own version with a wash of MAC’s Eyeshadow in Ruddy, and wing it out at the corners. Swirl on a blush in a similar shade to enhance bone structure, like Jose did here, along the apples of the cheeks, up to the cheekbones and upwards toward the temple – think of the overall application like a backward Nike tick. Try to use a blush with a creamy texture for the same shine and subtle highlight. As for the rest of the look, keep mascara minimal and brows well-groomed to toughen up the prettiness of the pinks. Lips only require a slick of clear balm or gloss to finish.

Patrick Ta

The Look: Soft Corals

How To Do It: With this beautiful look, Patrick Ta proves why reds and corals are on-trend for summer 2020. He applied Crème de La Mer’s Soft Fluid Foundation all over the skin, before sweeping Huda Beauty’s Tan Tour (in Fair) across the cheekbones, down the nose and along any other high points of the face to bring structure – these taupe tones give the perfect tonal balance against brighter coral shades. As for the eyeshadow, he opted for blusher, which was also run along the apples of the cheeks. He then buffed in his own Patrick Ta Monochrome Moment blusher in ‘She’s Passionate,’ pushing it into the crease of lids for extra warmth. Lips were a similar tone, but with a hint of orange, using Kylie Cosmetics Lipstick Blush – you can only get this in the US, but Charlotte Tilbury does a brilliant dupe. Finally, for the luminous highlight, he misted his Major Highlighting Spray over the face – not only does this work to lock make-up down, it gives long-lasting radiance, too.

Rose Inc.

The Look: Tomato-Red Pout

How To Do It: This colourful pout makes for a real statement, especially when paired with a subtle eye, like it was here. The exact shade was Sunnies Fluffmatte in Hot Sauce, but since it’s unavailable in the UK, replicate the look by using Dose of Colours Matte Lipstick in Coral Crush to get the same intense pigment. Sculpt eyes with a baby pink tone, before using a soft, thin mascara to mimic the same barely-there effect, and keep brows buffed in place with a gel formula. Effortless, but so chic.
