GHD Rise: How It Works & The Best Ways To Use It
CREATED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GHD
Section Up Your Hair
Before you begin styling, pull half of your hair up and out the way, then section off your strands so you can work through each area. Doing this allows you to cover all bases and get an even style. Then, take the brush, wrap it around your hair and pull it away from your head. Hold it there for just a few seconds. Once you’ve done this, slowly unravel it and roll it under for a smooth, volumised look. If you’re after more bounce, take a section of hair and go in directly at the root, holding the tool there for 5-9 seconds before releasing and brushing through for extra lift.
Leave Your Front Two Sections Loose
Do the whole of your head but leave the front two sections loose. The direction of the bounce or wave is most important here: try to avoid curling inwards as it won’t frame your face properly; instead, curl away from the face and backwards for a softer finish. Also, do the front sections in a slightly tighter curl so you get a different texture – it helps to frame your face instead of hide it.
Use Your Fingers For A Soft Finish
Take your fingers and run them through the hair after you’ve finished curling. This relaxes the style – but only do it once to avoid flattening it. Use a little hairspray in your hands too; run fingers through the front two sections while twisting curls backwards.
Recognise Its Versatility
The great thing about the ghd Rise is how versatile it is. Whether you have thick or thin hair, the medium-sized curling wand instantly eliminates any tangling or slipping. What’s more, it’s covered in 5mm bristles for a smooth, controlled glide. You can use it from the underneath, moving it upwards to create lift, or at the ends of the hair and outwards for subtle flicks. It creates decent curls, too, so the options are endless. Whatever you choose, you can guarantee it will eliminate flat, limp hair to create movement and volume.
Finally, Take Note Of The Heat Setting
You’ll find the heat setting easily, as the ghd Rise has a single button. On/Off is your only option, and the temperature is checked 250 times per second to ensure it stays consistent at 185°C. Not only will you get a constant heat that doesn’t burn or fluctuate, it also lends even distribution that allows you to get as close – and as safely – as possible to the scalp for best results.
