The Up & Coming Young Women In Sport To Know About
Sky Brown
SPORT: SKATEBOARDING
Sky is Britain’s youngest-ever skateboarding World Champion. The British-Japanese professional skateboarder and surfer burst onto the scene in 2016 at the age of eight when she competed at the US Open, later going on to represent Great Britain in 2018. With skateboarding being one of the four new sports to be added to the Olympics in 2020, the teen is now one of the youngest people to ever earn a medal for the sport – so we can only expect bigger and better things from her.

Celia Quansah
SPORT: RUGBY
We had to shout out young Olympian and women’s rugby sevens player Celia. The Twickenham-born athlete only started playing rugby at 21, having been recruited while attending Loughborough University. She later made her Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020. An open and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, she and her partner both represented Great Britain together in Japan. Most recently, Celia was named in the England squad for the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town.

At the top of the sport today is Tia Norton — a young passionate sportswoman who earned the title of Britain’s number one padel player aged just 18 last year. She was also the first and only professional British player to join the World Padel Tour. Originally coming from a tennis background, Tia now hopes to continue to grow in the world of padel and encourage others to give it a go.

Imo Boddy
SPORT: ULTRAMARATHON RUNNING
A friend of LuxeGirl, Imo shared her marathon running tips with us last year after becoming the youngest female to run JOGLE (John O’Groats to Land’s End) i.e. the length of Britain. At just 22, she ran 60km (40 miles) a day for 22 days to complete the 1,340 km challenge. Aside from her incredible achievement and endurance as a runner, another important part of the feat was the money she raised for mental health charity Young Minds. For more information on her achievements and tips, check out our interview with Imo on our YouTube channel.

Jasmine Harrison
SPORT: SWIMMING & ROWING
Jasmine is a true adventure junkie, and her passion for both swimming and rowing started at an early age. Now, she’s earned the title of being the first woman to swim the length of the UK, and also holds two world records for being the youngest solo female to row an ocean. While she has worked at these twin passions her whole life, these specific adventures required some serious conditioning – from learning how to withstand extremely low water temperatures to intense physical and mental preparation. We expect her to push the boundaries even more in 2023.
