The Look
“The ‘cinnamon roll’ trend brings together warm nude and brown tones, all from a similar colour palette, and lets you play with so many different textures too. The key, as the name suggests, is to make the most of cinnamon brown. Look for a warm brown with an orange undertone – something which is usually easy to find across eye, lip and cheek products. Once you have this cinnamon tone nailed, you can complement it with other neutrals to create a defined and sophisticated look.” – Jessica Kell, make-up artist
“Hailey Bieber always nails these trends, from her glazed skin to flushed cheeks, so the ‘cinnamon roll’ trend suits her hyper-natural aesthetic perfectly. It can be a ‘no make-up-make-up’ look with the focus on glowing skin right through to editorial high-fashion and then sultry and sexy at night.” – Sophie Tilley, make-up artist
The Method
“A beautifully hydrated base is always the best place to start. I would use a golden-toned primer that will give the whole look a beautiful lift right from the start and give your base a luminous golden glow.” – Jessica
“Blending is key, so each tone melts into the next. The intensity can be tailored too, from a simple brown smudged liner at the lash line to a full eyeshadow brought right up to the brow bone. Plus, you can go simple or smokey, matte or high shine. Decide what works best for you and go from there.” – Sophie
The Pitfalls
“Stay away from blacks and greys for your eyes – instead, opt for warm tones. It’s all about the eyes, complemented by glowing, bronzed skin. When working with these tones, bring the shadow up a little higher on the lid than you normally would, then frame the eyes by adding it to the lower lash line too.” – Sophie
The Day Look
“Use matte shades to create a soft blended eye. Start by sweeping your cinnamon-toned eyeshadow all over the lid and bend it out to the corner of the eye for a soft feline shape. Then, take a deeper toned brown and gently buff it into the crease for extra depth. This eye look should be finished with a thick coat of a warm brown mascara. I would use a peachy blush to emphasise the orange undertones in the cinnamon eyes and your bronzer.” – Jessica
The Night Look
“At night, it’s worth adding some sheen to the high points of your face – think your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose and across the top of your forehead. Then apply some glittery accents on the eyes. Warm browns are beautifully enhanced by antique golds and rich coppery hues. Take your eyeliner inside the waterline for some extra intensity. For the lips, go from matte to glossy and go deeper with your bronzer too. You could also spice up your cinnamon with some berry tones or keep it sultry with golden and copper accents.” – Sophie
