Cliveden Literary Festival
Cliveden Literary Festival takes place this month. On Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th October, guests will be able to tune into a range of events and live talks from writers, historians and politicians. Talks will take place on either The Arts Club Stage or in Cliveden’s Great Hall, where you can hear from the likes of award-winning journalist Tina Brown, editor-in-chief of British Vogue Edward Enninful, actor Brian Cox (Succession, Churchill),and writer Abi Morgan. Tickets cost £120 for a day pass or £195 for a weekend ticket.
THE ART FESTIVAL:
Frieze London
Frieze London is an art fair featuring 280 of the world’s leading galleries. Visitors can view and buy art from more than 1,000 artists, while enjoying the fair’s critically acclaimed curated sections and talks programme. Highlights include an outdoor sculpture exhibition in Regent’s Park featuring 19 large-scale works by artists including John Giorno, Ro Robertson and Ugo Rondinone; a guided tour of the main exhibition space with a focus on established artists and big-name galleries; and an exhibition by Louise Giovanelli at White Cube Bermondsey. Tickets start from £16.

THE EXHIBITION:
Imagining Musicals at the V&A
Later this month, the V&A will open a new exhibition about musicals and their cultural significance over the decades. Featuring a range of artwork, photography stills, costumes and props from the West End and Broadway, it explores how some of the best-loved musicals have been adapted, revived, and retold. From Miss Saigon and My Fair Lady to modern classics SIX the Musical and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, the exhibition charts how the genre has changed over time.

Good
After a two-year delay, David Tennant returns to the West End stage with this new production of the political play Good, directed by Dominic Cooke (The Courier, The Hollow Crown). John Halder is a good man. But good men must adapt to survive. As the world faces a world war, this decent, intelligent, music-loving German professor finds himself swept along in a movement that crescendos towards an unthinkable finale. A timely release.

BFI London Film Festival
The BFI London Film Festival celebrates the most innovative new films from across the world. Visitors can discover the Oscar winners of the future, new talent and beautifully restored treasures from the archives. Every screening is hand-picked by a trusted team of programmers, and all features are being shown in the UK for the first – and sometimes only – time. Hundreds of leading directors, writers and actors will also take to the stage to introduce their films and take part in audience Q&As. Head down to the social hub at BFI Southbank for free events or discover films at the pop-up Embankment Garden Cinema. This year’s headline films include Sam Mendes’ Empire of Light starring Olivia Colman and Micheal Ward, Living featuring Billy Nighy, and the Hitchcockian noir thriller Decision to Leave.

Detour by Sawday’s x Postcards From Midlife
Travel company Sawday’s has teamed up with Trish Halpin and Lorraine Candy from Postcards from Midlife for a new podcast miniseries. There are currently three episodes to listen to featuring inspiring women from the world of interiors, fashion and broadcasting. With a focus on all things travel, each interviewee talks about their favourite holiday spots, the places that inspire them, and their go-to spots in the UK. Expect to hear from interior designer Lisa Dawson, author Tasmina Perry and jewellery designer Claudia Bradby.
