Fleishman Is In Trouble, Disney+
We loved Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s 2019 novel, so can’t wait for this upcoming adaptation. Recently divorced 41-year-old Toby Fleishman (Jesse Eisenberg) dives into the brave new world of app-based dating with the kind of success he never had before he got married at the tail end of medical school. But just at the start of his first summer of sexual freedom, his ex-wife Rachel (Claire Danes) disappears, leaving him with 11-year-old Hannah and nine-year-old Solly, and no hint of where she is or whether she plans to return. As he balances parenting, the return of old friends Libby (Lizzy Caplan) and Seth (Adam Brody), a potential promotion at the hospital and all the eligible women that Manhattan has to offer, he realises he'll never be able to figure out what happened to Rachel until he can finally face what happened to their marriage in the first place.
Nolly, ITVX
Noele ‘Nolly’ Gordon was a legend in her own lifetime. As flame-haired widow Meg Richardson in the long-running soap opera Crossroads, she was one of the most famous people in Britain. Then in 1981, at the height of the show’s success and the peak of Nolly’s fame, she was axed without ceremony, warning or explanation. With the boss’s words ‘all good things must come to an end’ ringing in her ears, Noele found herself thrown out of the show that had been her life for over 18 years. It's A Sin’s Russell T Davies’s upcoming ITV drama – starring Helena Bonham Carter – brings the true Noele Gordon once more into the spotlight. And at last, the biggest question of all can be answered – why was she sacked?
Bridgerton, Netflix
In this third series, Hannah Dodd (Anatomy of a Scandal) takes over the role of Francesca Bridgerton from Ruby Stokes, but viewers will finally be able to see the Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington love story play out. After Penelope was cruelly dismissed by Colin at the end of season two, she sets about finding a new match in the ferocious Regency marriage market.
Masters of the Air, Apple TV+
Masters of the Air is one of the most awaited series on Apple TV+. The series is a story of 11 fighters who went on a survival mission for their country, tracing the story of the Eighth Air Force crewmen who fought Nazi forces during World War II, setting their story against a backdrop of wartime England and Nazi Germany. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the series is his third focused on WWII following his phenomenal Band of Brothers and The Pacific. And with a cast that includes Elvis’s Austin Butler, plus Callum Turner (The Capture), Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk), Anthony Boyle (Danny Boy) and new Doctor Who Ncuti Gatwa, we’re certain it’ll be an A-list performance across the board.
Lessons In Chemistry, Apple TV+
Based on the bestselling debut novel from author, science editor and copywriter Bonnie Garmus, Lessons in Chemistry will land on Apple TV+ in 2023. Set in the early 1950s, it follows Elizabeth Zott (played by Brie Larson), whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a society deeming that women belong in the domestic sphere, not the professional one. When Elizabeth finds herself pregnant, alone and fired from her lab, she musters the ingenuity only a single mother has. She accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives – and the men who are suddenly listening – a lot more than recipes, all the while craving a return to her true love: science.
Daisy Jones & The Six, Prime Video
Based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & The Six is a limited musical-drama series detailing the rise and precipitous fall of a renowned rock band. In 1977, Daisy Jones & The Six were on top of the world. Fronted by two charismatic lead singers – Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) – the band had risen from obscurity to fame. And then, after a sold-out show at Chicago's Soldier Field, they called it quits. Now, decades later, the band members finally agree to reveal the truth. This is the story of how an iconic band imploded at the height of its powers.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Netflix
Centred on Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton prequel tells the story of how the young queen's marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.
Welcome To Chippendales, Disney+
A sprawling true-crime saga, Welcome to Chippendales tells the outrageous story of Somen “Steve” Banerjee, an Indian immigrant who became the unlikely founder of the world’s greatest male-stripping empire – and let nothing stand in his way in the process. Welcome to Chippendales’ star-studded cast includes Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Juliette Lewis (Yellowjackets) and Annaleigh Ashford (American Crime Story).
The White House Plumbers, HBO
White House Plumbers by Egil “Bud” Krogh and Matthew Krogh tells the story of how Richard Nixon’s own political saboteurs and Watergate masterminds, E. Howard Hunt (Woody Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux), accidentally toppled the presidency they were zealously trying to protect. Harrelson and Theroux will star as Hunt and Liddy respectively, while Domhnall Gleeson (Run) will portray the brilliant and ambitious White House counsel, John Dean; and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) will play Hunt's wife, Dorothy, a CIA asset who tries to hold her family together.
