The Best Cream Eyeshadows For A Crease-Free Finish

Cream eyeshadows are easier to apply than powder ones. Loved by make-up pros, they’re perfect for novices too, as they set quickly, last longer and tend not to settle into creases or fine lines. Interested? Here are some of our favourites for more mature eyes.

Eyes To Mesmerise Kit, £47 | Charlotte Tilbury

Arguably one of Charlotte Tilbury’s best products to date, these cream shadows have been designed to bring out the intensity in your eyes. They’re also full of vitamin E to keep skin nourished and smooth, in turn keeping pigment even so you never get wrinkling or flaking. Make-up artist Lisa Potter-Dixon recommends applying them with your fingers or a brush to gently buff them in – less is more as these are creamier than most. Once dry, pat a little extra onto the centre of your lids to further brighten and enhance your eyes.

Ombre Blackstar Sticks, £30 | By Terry

One of By Terry’s most popular launches, these sticks come in several eye-opening shades – no wonder they’re frequently dubbed ‘the best cream eyeshadows around’. Malleable and smooth in texture, they’re easy to build up and mix, with pigment that’s seriously long-lasting. The ‘Misty Rock’ tone is beautiful for an alternative smokey eye or try ‘Immaculate Light’ for extra luminosity.

Eye Tint, £27 | Ilia Beauty

Sweep these on like a lip gloss to your lids. Non-sticky, they transform from a cream to a powder and do not budge. They have just enough shimmer to create a soft-focus glow without weighing your lids down. We love that they can be a subtle wash, too, for those who prefer something more low key. If shimmer isn’t your thing, check out the matte, taupe tones which are great for daytime wear.

Eye 2 Eye, £18 | Trinny London

These creamy pots come in plenty of soft, suit-all shades that never look heavy, just flattering. They have a smooth and malleable texture that’s easy to blend and layer up, helping you to create a sheer wash or more drama. Use your fingers for best results – this way you can really pat the colour into the lids for a crease-free finish. We love all the colours, but Molten Rose Gold is our favourite. It catches the light beautifully and enhances every eye colour.

Ombre Première Cream Eyeshadow, £29 | Chanel

Make-up artists swear by these Chanel cream shadows. Acting as both a primer and shadow, they cling to the lids for a budge-proof finish. The colour payoff is impressive too – just a small dab will cover your entire eyelid. Sheer, buildable and easy to blend, they’re available in several wearable shades and are perfect as a base before you apply further eye make-up.

Colorstay Creme Eye Shadow, £7.96 | Revlon

These budget cream shadows are incredibly wearable, with a thin lightweight texture and wet-look finish. What’s more, they live up to the long-wear hype – with an almost tacky texture, they stay put and don’t migrate down your face, no matter how warm or wet the weather gets. Make the shades ‘Praline’ and ‘Caramel’ your go-tos for a soft, smokey eye.

Creamy Eyeshadows, £6.99 | Kiko Cosmetics

A-list make-up artist Caroline Barnes swears by these ‘swipe and go’ creams. Affordable and easy-to-use, they have a silky, blendable texture that can be applied as a muted wash or layered up for more definition. You only need a small amount to create a foolproof look, and you’ll find they wear well throughout the day. No 4pm creasing here!

Ombre Satin Eyeshadow, £20 | Clarins

This has more of a velvety texture than a cream, but it wears as well and blends smoothly, too. Designed with flexible polymers, the shadow adheres to the lids immediately for some easy definition. You can sweep these on with your fingers or a brush – no mirror required – for a foolproof, smokey eye. The wearable bronze and champagne tones never feel too daunting either and make a nice alternative to the traditional darker shades.

Eyelights, £25 | RMS Beauty

We had to snap these up the minute we saw them on Instagram. Available in six subtle, metallic shades, they provide a sheer wash of colour that catches the light beautifully. Ideal if you like that wet-look lid, as well as a buildable texture that can be amped up or muted depending on your preference, the added organic green tea keeps inflammation at bay while quinoa extracts nourish and soothe. We love that each tube includes a reusable key, which allows you to squeeze out the remaining contents before you recycle it.
