Dry Volume & Texture Spray, £26 | Living Proof
This new spray does a bit of everything. Designed to protect against heat, but also give effortless texture and volume, it ticks all the right boxes without ever weighing your hair down. For the best results, section up your hair as best you can, then spray this from root to tip, scrunching with your fingers as you go. As you blow-dry (or style with other tools) you’ll see the texture form as you get to work. You can also mist it over finished hairstyles to prolong the look, but also to add better volume at the root of your hair. Suitable for all hair types, but especially those prone to lankness and a lack of definition.

Lip Retreat Oil, £20 | Wander Beauty
Combining the benefits of a hydrating oil with the impact of a plumping gloss, this lip treatment is ideal when you want just a hint of something. It contains vitamins E and A, as well as avocado oil and fatty acids to keep dryness and any chapping at bay. There are three colours to choose from – a transparent hue, a soft berry and a muted fuchsia – all of which can be layered up or swiped on once for a pretty flush of colour. Experts recommend layering a little over your regular lipstick for extra depth and intensity.

Eyeshadow x9 In Amber, £26 | MAC
It’s no secret warm, bronze tones are some of the most flattering for mature skin. Our new favourite palette has to be this one from MAC. Housing nine suit-all shades – both shimmer and matte – each one is easy to layer and build upon to create a multitude of different looks. They work beautifully together, or wear solo to bring warmth and subtle definition to your entire eye area. If you don’t want to wear the colours all over your lids, use a fine brush to wing a little of the colour outwards at the edges of your eyes. The best bit? As these are powders, you’ll find this palette lasts you for years – the pigment is rich, so a little goes a long way.

Lipscreen SPF40, £20 | Supergoop
Designed to apply like a non-sticky gloss, this quickly enhances the lips, while SPF40 protects against daily damage. You can wear it on its own for a healthy sheen, or layer it over lipstick for a plumped-up finish. Though it’s water-resistant, we recommend reapplying this at least every two hours for maximum protection. We love the compact size which is great for keeping in your handbag.

Lash Extender Fiber Mascara, £14.95 | No7
Even short, stubby lashes will benefit from this mascara. With tiny little tubes, it latches onto every lash for instant definition and volume. The wand allows you to get right down to your roots for extra oomph, while distributing colour evenly with rich, glossy pigment. Extra points for the bamboo extracts which are great for added hydration and preventing brittleness.

Retinol & Niacinamide Night Cream, £27.99 | L’Oréal Paris
If you’re yet to take the retinol plunge, this is the product to do so with. It uses a generous dose of this key, anti-ageing ingredient to stimulate sluggish cells and boost their turnover for more luminous and firmer-looking skin. Add that to the benefits of niacinamide (which is added to cushion the drying effects of retinol) and you have a night cream that works double-time to hydrate, plump, nourish and smooth the appearance of issues like fine lines. You don’t need to use it every day to see results – in fact twice a week will suffice. However, if you find you tolerate it well, you can up the ante and begin to apply it every other night. Be sure to follow up with SPF30 the following day to shield against any UV damage the retinol may have made you more susceptible to.

Illuminated Mirror With Built-In Fan, £24.99 | RIO
For £24.99, this LED mirror is a steal in comparison to other versions on the market. Designed with simplicity in mind, it’s easy to use yet comes with numerous benefits. Hold down the light on the mirror itself to amp up the brightness or dim things down. You’ll be amazed how well it illuminates your complexion, mimicking the effect of natural light, so you always get a well-blended make-up look. We love the addition of the in-built fan which not only sets make-up faster but keeps your skin cool at all times, so you never get any unwanted inflammation.

Modern Lip Definer, £15 | Vieve
Lip liners are often given a bad press but, these days, they come with creamier textures and richer pigment, making them a great tool for creating the illusion of fullness and restoring lost volume. Cue these ones from Vieve. Available in five suit-all shades, each one is a soft, rosy tone that brings a healthy flush of colour to the lips. Our favourite thing is how soft and velvety they are – they allow you to sculpt and shape without ever over-lining your lips. The pigment glides on beautifully for a smoother finish. Use it around the edges to define or blend your liner across your entire lip for a more natural finish. The benefit of this is if you apply lipstick on top and it wears off throughout the day, the colour of your liner will come through underneath.

The consistency is sheer, so you can get away with using just your fingers here, but for deeper intensity, buff it in with a brush. It’s only available in one shade, but it suits all skin tones.

Aqua Resist Brow Fixer, £21 | Make Up Forever
Designed to fill even the sparsest areas, this clever brow gel has a 45° angled brush that catches every single hair for precise results. Its waxy texture and waterproof formula is ideal for taming wayward hair, while the colour is just enough to add subtle definition, but never too much that it leaves behind any grey cast – which some brow gels are known for. Run it back against the growth of your hair, then back the other way again to get the most from this. It will quickly coat your arches with a tint of colour, while sculpting them into place for the remainder of the day. Ideal if you’re someone wanting to enhance and define, but subtly.

Simply hold the wishbone handle and gently push the head of the tool into the skin for best results. Use it on dry limbs or in the shower – either way you’ll still reap the benefits.
