3 Small Fashion Brands To Know
The Story
Founder Fiona Hodges is heavily inspired by the work of Indian artisans, which is apparent in her colourful and playful printed designs. A former staffer at Vogue in both London and Sydney, Fiona found herself back in India in her 30s after spending much of her childhood there and, after taking some fabric to one of Delhi’s seamsters to create a kaftan, Seraphina was born.
What’s Different?
Another brand that works with Indian craftspeople to bring designs to life, Seraphina’s pieces strike the balance between classic and contemporary – a conscious decision to ensure you’ll still be able to wear each dress in five years’ time. Sustainability is also at the forefront, with only natural fibres used and the brand is working hard to become carbon neutral by 2022.

The Story
Dutch-born, London-based stylist Ellen Wiggin founded LexyLondon in 2019 when she recognised a gap in the market for wearable, hand-crafted pieces that wouldn’t break the bank. The label is now known for flattering, feminine clothes for grown-up women.
What’s Different?
LexyLondon believes in slow fashion, working with small, local manufacturers who are guaranteed fair working conditions and healthcare. Cottons and cotton-silks used in the brand’s designs are sourced in Jaipur, while pattern cutting, stitching and tailoring are carried out in one workshop, thus creating the smallest possible supply chain that’s kinder to the planet.
Prices from: £120.
