9 Of The Best Food & Fine Dining Experiences

If you’ve got a special occasion coming up, there are lots of new luxury experiences on our radar this season. From private dinners cooked by Michelin-starred chefs to the four-figure seafood platter making waves in London, here are the food launches to know about.

THE CHEF SERIES:

Angela Hartnett & Luke Holder At Lime Wood

‘Hosted at Backstage’ is five-star New Forest hotel Lime Wood’s exclusive new private dining series, offering guests a rare opportunity to be cooked for by Murano’s Angela Hartnett and the hotel’s Luke Holder in an informal ‘at home’ setting. Guests will meet them both, watching them cook a special dinner from a large rustic kitchen table seating ten. From October through to spring, the pair will be hosting two dinners a month for £3,500 a night.

THE HOTEL LAUNCH:

Mauro Colagreco At Raffles London At The OWO

Taking over Whitehall’s Old War Office, Raffles London at The OWO is currently the city’s most anticipated opening. It’s just announced a partnership with Mauro Colagreco, the acclaimed Argentinian chef behind three-Michelin-starred Mirazur on the Côte d’Azur, which made the ‘Best of the Best’ category in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards last year. When the hotel launches in late 2022, Colagreco will open a brasserie, fine-dining restaurant and multi-sensory chef’s table. His dishes will also be available for in-room dining, private events and for residents of The OWO Residences by Raffles.

THE EAST LONDON RESTAURANT:

Cycene At Blue Mountain School

Blue Mountain School in London’s East End is swapping Mãos for a fresh concept this autumn. Cycene will be headed up by chef Theo Clench, who previously cooked at excellent African restaurant Akoko. Cycene will take over two floors of the restored townhouse, with a diners-only bar on the ground floor offering cocktails, minimal intervention wines and kombuchas. Guests will then be led upstairs and behind the pass into the 16-seat restaurant for a 10-course meal, where dishes could include the likes of Carlingford oyster with cucumber and kaluga caviar; and slow-cooked turbot with lettuce sauce, sake and oscietra caviar. Private dining will be offered in an adjoining hearth room, which will seat up to six guests around a bronze wishbone dining table.

THE PERMANENT RESTAURANT:

Koyn

Koyn, a modern Japanese restaurant from Samyukta and Dinesh Nair – the duo behind Jamavar and MiMi Mei Fair – has opened on Grosvenor Square. On the ground floor, guests will be in the hands of experienced sushi masters who serve lobster tempura sushi rolls with chargrilled red pepper and creamy yuzu lemon; and applewood-smoked Japanese A5 wagyu sushi rolls with asparagus and black truffle. The lower floor is the place to enjoy the theatre of the open robata grill, with freshly grilled dishes including hojicha-smoked lamb marinated with spicy kuromame miso; and wagyu ishiyaki.

THE A-LIST HANGOUT:

The Twenty Two

The Twenty Two is the capital’s hottest destination right now, with everyone from Tom Cruise to Jeff Bezos spotted there this summer. This hotel, restaurant and members club has transformed an Edwardian manor on Grosvenor Square into a richly decorated west London hideaway with 31 bedrooms and suites – including a mews house – in addition to the public restaurant and private club. When it comes to food and drink, the private dining room is the place to book for a party – we like the sound of the Devon crab salad with cucumber, radish and sea greens; grilled langoustines with seaweed and garlic butter; and slow-cooked beef pappardelle.

Hotel Café Royal’s newest restaurant has just opened its doors. Alex Dilling’s first standalone restaurant is due reward for the success of his time at the helm of two Michelin-starred kitchens, The Greenhouse and Hélène Darroze at The Connaught.
