For the past 15 years, I have sworn by a cleansing routine using an oil- or balm-based cleanser with a face cloth. It does a great job at prepping and priming your skin for make-up. #### A Skincare Ingredient I Rate… It’s nothing ground-breaking, but honestly, some sort of glycolic or lactic acid to just help get rid of dead skin cells. Currently, I’m using the [glycolic toner](https://the-inkey-list.sjv.io/B0Jvk0) from The Inkey List. #### The Most Underrated Product… A flannel! Using a face cloth or flannel when I wash my face provides gentle exfoliation, removes my make-up and helps my skincare work its best by sloughing off excess dead skin. It's a non-negotiable for me. #### The At-Home Tool That Will Actually Make A Difference… I love a good LED face mask. I think she’s the best at what she does because she’s so light-handed and will never make you look like someone else. She also has a skincare line, so you can experience her expertise at home. I use it on my hands to lock in moisture, on my lips when they’re dry and chapped and under my eyes when my make-up is looking crepey. #### Your Lifestyle Can Be Just As Important As Skincare… … and honestly, in my 40s, it’s sleep that makes the biggest difference to how I look and feel. #### When It Comes To Prepping My Skin Before Make-Up… …less is more. I’ll do a little serum and face cream on the high points of my face but keep it lighter where I know I’m going to powder.
