Switzerland is especially lovely in the autumn. [The Bürgenstock Hotel](https://burgenstockresort.com/en/) in Lucerne was a highlight of the trip thanks to its 10,000 sq m spa, which is home to five pools and panoramic saunas. I loved the views of the rolling hills, the fresh air and staying in a hotel that inspired the *James Bond* films and was once frequented by Sofia Loren. **One of the most memorable trips I’ve taken recently** **was to Norway with** [**62°Nord**](https://www.62.no/en)**.** We got to experience an epic boat journey, travelling to three hotels through the fjords. Fjords are carved by glaciers out of ancient rock so it was really special to swim in one. Norway has a beautiful otherworldly landscape and the activities are exciting and adventurous. As well as cold water dips we e-biked through mountains, kayaked and went on lots of scenic walks. **I am a big fan of the Mediterranean**. Sun, sea and sand – what more could you want? Spain, Greece, Italy and France always deliver. Recently, I’ve loved exploring countries that offer a mix of relaxation and adventure. This year we went to Madeira, which feels like a tropical wonderland just four hours from London. You can hike, swim, see dolphins and drive through roads lined with hydrangeas. It’s beautiful and offers a mixture of sunshine and adventure. I’m planning a trip to Copenhagen this summer so I can experience its coffee scene, the cool hotels and chic stores. **I love a road trip.** Windows down, playlist on, stopping at beautiful places on the way without the faff of the airport – it’s perfect. Two summers ago, we travelled from Barcelona through the south of France, taking a few days in each stop to explore properly. We spent time in Costa Brava, Cadaqués, Provence and finally the Riviera – such a fun trip. We later repeated a road journey across California because we’d loved it so much the first time, once in a car and then again in a camper van, which was incredible in its own way, if a little less glamorous than hotels. The sense of freedom you get from a road trip is unmatched. **Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful and magical places I’ve visited.** It has everything – waterfalls that look almost unreal, striking beaches, extraordinary biodiversity, abundant wildlife, hot springs, volcanoes and cloud forests. The experiences feel endless and the country leaves a lasting impression. **When I think about the most romantic place I’ve ever been**, Christmas in the California mountains stands out. We rented a cabin that felt wonderfully cosy, with a hot tub overlooking the forest, a small cinema room and a kitchen where we made breakfast while Christmas songs played on the record player. On Christmas morning we woke up to snow, which made the whole experience even more special. We stayed in an all‑inclusive hotel on the shoreline but in hindsight we’d have chosen small, independent places for a more authentic experience, especially in places like Tulum. **In the UK,** [**The Pig hotels**](https://www.thepighotel.com/) **are up there for me.** They have a cosy, British touch and are great year-round destinations. I also love [The Hoxton](https://thehoxton.com/) hotels which are decently priced with great design. They’re reliable and you know what you’re getting. **Spain and Greece are my go-tos for a beach holiday.** Mainly because I love the cuisine and can’t resist those Med blues. That said, after visiting the Maldives for the first time, they’ve set the benchmark for beaches. The sand is as fine as dust and the ocean stretches out in vivid tropical blues – pure paradise, especially at [Six Senses Kanuhura](https://www.sixsenses.com/en/hotels-resorts/asia-the-pacific/maldives/kanuhura/). **If I had just two nights abroad, I’d choose Paris or Marseille.** For convenience and ease, it’s Paris – I used to take the early Eurostar from London and squeeze in two full days exploring the city. Marseille comes a close second because it gives you both beach and city in one trip. It has great shopping, coffee spots, restaurants, excellent thrifting and easy access to beautiful beaches and hiking in the Calanques if you’re in the mood for nature. Mexico City is another hotspot for food; every meal during our trip there felt memorable. And sometimes nothing beats simplicity: a tapas spread or a grilled fish with a Greek salad at a taverna can be unforgettable. **If I had to live in one hotel I’d choose** [**Belmond La Residencia**](https://www.belmond.com/hotels/europe/mallorca/deia/belmond-la-residencia/?srsltid=AfmBOorpoIQdkLRfbYSIa7LFVpLSN6fkaJNQjzpOrUYhA7BAmlFaT6yD) **in Mallorca.** It’s a beautiful hotel that feels like it’s woven into the town of Deià. You’re surrounded by hilltop houses and close to striking beaches, and the restaurant [El Olivo](https://www.sevenrooms.com/explore/elolivo/reservations/create/search) is one of the most memorable dining settings I’ve experienced. I love Spain, and Mallorca in particular offers everything I’m drawn to – mountains, shoreline and a lively city scene all in one place. **Choosing favourite holiday photos is impossible**. I’m a memory collector, so each one holds something personal. The images that feel especially meaningful tend to be the film shots.
