DANIELLE FRANKEL

New York-based Danielle Frankel offers a quality of detail usually only seen among Europe’s top couturiers. Her new collection is full of dramatic silhouettes and shapes, from sculptural column dresses with interesting necklines to full-on ballgowns with voluminous skirts and overblow waists – we love the strong bubble hems and slinky separates.

BON BRIDE

For her third collection, Bon Bridé designer Pippa Cooke drew on 19th-century Western styles to envisage a liberated bride with a distinctly modern point of view. She also merged blended corset seaming with more dominant masculine silhouettes, as well as plunging necklines with high slits and sheer fabrications. “Within the limitations of women’s dress from this era, I wanted to design a range that retaliated against the society that so dictated how a woman should look,” explains Pippa. “I want to open up the conversation and create a gateway for our modern brides to confront the stigma around a woman’s body and what she should wear on her wedding day.”

HERMIONE DE PAULA

‘Moon Phases’ by Hermione De Paula is embellished, overly feminine and full of drama – making it one for confident brides looking to stand out on their big day. There are plenty of feather trims, heavy pearl and sequin details, and backless shapes mixed with form-fitting fishtail trains. Hermione isn’t afraid to use tulle and lace to maximum effect, while the floral pieces are exactly what you need to complete a spring bridal wardrobe.

RIXO

Rixo is the brand fashion girls love. Signature details from its latest foray into bridalwear include plunging necklines, plenty of sparkle and silky halternecks that evoke iconic looks from the likes of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. We suggest taking styling tips from the brand’s latest campaign and pairing these pieces with modern headbands or birdcage veils.

DONATELLE GODART

A new entry on this annual list, the beautiful new collection from French designer Donatelle Godart is irresistible. It embodies the best of French fashion – think simple tulle skirts paired with sweet fuzzy sweaters and hair bows, and louche tailoring perfect for civil ceremonies. There are plenty of head-to-toe looks on offer, but we appreciate that the range of separates – both formal and casual – means there’s plenty for brides just looking for one or two pieces.

LIZ MARTINEZ

La Dimora SS24 is a collection that stands apart from many on this list. Playing with semi-sheer fabrics, unusual interlocking folds and plenty of delicate lace and sparkle, Liz Martinez is still at the top of her game. Unapologetically feminine and hyper romantic – with a subtle sexiness – this is a modern and continental collection for brides who aren’t afraid to take a few risks.

VIKTOR&ROLF

For SS24, Viktor&Rolf has delivered the Mariage collection, a curated edit that showcases its unique, fashion-forward take on bridalwear. Produced in partnership with Justin Alexander, an international bridalwear designer and manufacturer, the signature sculptural designs are highlighted with floral embroideries, while dresses are elevated with dreamy bows and frosted pearls. For the first time, a sheer illusion bodice joins the collection, adorned with sheer organza-crafted flowers that bloom in 3D from the bodice. Other standouts include the ‘Tulle Ruffle Gown’, a strapless dress with a structural, clean bodice that leads into a dramatic, voluminous ruffled skirt.

JESSICA BENNETT

The ‘She’ collection from Jessica Bennett is perfect for traditional brides looking to put a contemporary spin on their wedding-day look. Delicate lines and silhouettes are defined by bright white satin and taffeta moulded into off-the-shoulder gowns, elegant cocktail dresses and party-ready minis. We love that there’s ‘something blue’ in there – the full-length Delphine in powder blue must be one of the most original looks to come out of this year’s round of bridal drops. Modern and timeless in equal measure.

CLOVER LONDON

Clover London is a contemporary bridal brand operating in the gap between high street and made to measure. Its aim is simple: to offer classic, 100% silk pieces at an accessible price point – something founder and designer Ally Voss struggled to find during her own quest for a wedding dress. Her third collection since launching has largely been inspired by customers’ desire for dresses and separates that can be worn time and again – long after the wedding day is over. Prices start from £600.

HALFPENNY LONDON

We love Kate Halfpenny – the female powerhouse behind bridal brand Halfpenny London – and her Balance Chapter One range is one of her best yet. Inspired by nature’s strive for equilibrium, Balance celebrates the beauty in juxtaposing textiles and the surprising harmony in sometimes opposing forces. Look for unexpected details and exaggerated accessories, as clean lines are interrupted by organza frills and oversized satin trains.

PRONOVIAS

Started as a family business, this Spanish bridalwear brand has been making wedding dresses for 50 years. Alongside its classic designs, Pronovias has some bold and contemporary options for the adventurous bride in 2024. The Sunray dress may seem like a classic mermaid silhouette with a simple cowl neckline at first glance, but turn it around to discover a daring low back and chic fringing.

& FOR LOVE

A Canadian brand available at a range of UK-based boutiques, & For Love shot its new Bondi To Bronte collection on Bondi Beach itself. Amid the strong silhouettes and effortless looks perfect for modern brides, there are plenty of feminine details – like puff sleeves, cut-out backs and even sequins. While some might argue this is a collection for non-traditional brides, the label says its pieces are simply designed with the contemporary woman in mind. Great if you’re planning a beach or destination wedding for next summer.
