Opt For A Buildable Foundation

Know Your Focal Points
“Getting your complexion right is the most important part. Make sure your foundation is an exact match, then use a blusher and a highlighter to create the definition you’re after. Rather than wearing a full, heavy coverage foundation, choose a light and buildable foundation. Afterwards, go in with a fuller coverage concealer to hide uneven tone. This will let your natural complexion shine through, while still creating a flawless finish. If you want to focus on your eyes, choose three shades to create a simplistic, yet well-defined look. That should include a light tone, a mid-tone for the lid and a deeper tone for definition.”
Choose The Right Eye Shades
“With eye make-up, choose shades that compliment your individual eye colour. Blue eyes work well with warmer tones such as copper, gold or bronze, while green eyes suit dusky lilacs and rose gold. If you have brown eyes, enhance them with cooler shades such as burgundy or chocolate brown.”
Don’t Go For Both Lips & Eyes
“The perfect bridal look is all about balancing the eyes and the lips. I often advocate creating definition on the eyes over the lips. Do this with brown and bronze liners, such as Chantecaille’s Luster Glide Liner in Earth or Jasper. Neither are as strong as black, but they still offer definition. For lips, dial them down with a soft rose or peach tone. This will provide a fresher finish that’s more elegant for your wedding. Plus, darker lip tones won’t wear as well.”
Make The Most Of Blush & Bronzer
“When it comes to blusher, always choose a shade which you would blush naturally. For warmer, olive skin tones, that’s corals and apricots, while cooler, rosy tones will look great in fresh pink. Use bronzer to subtly enhancing your look and add definition – even for a very natural finish. Try sweeping a little under the cheekbones and by your hairline. This will give you an instantly healthy and more contoured appearance. I swear by Chantecaille’s Real Bronze which is light and buildable. It never creases either – the perfect sun-kissed finish.”
Know What To Avoid
“Skip mineral sunscreens. They may reflect the light in photos and give you what’s known as ‘flashback’. Also, avoid any foundation which includes SPF. Likewise, don’t use cream-based make-up products. They don’t tend to last that well – go for something water-based and buildable instead.”
