In The Know: Cool Things For Parents & Kids

Every month we bring you the coolest things to know about, guaranteed to keep the kids busy and the parents happy. From new children’s wear and toys to a special West End musical, here’s what is worth having on your radar.

Pots For Tots

When mum-of-one Flora Campbell struggled to find nutritious meals for her toddler, she decided to create her own and turn it into a business so busy parents could have a selection of homemade meals delivered straight to their door. Every meal is tried and tested by Flora’s toddler, Toby, so you can rest assured each dish has been given the seal of approval by a little one. Suitable for children from eight months to six years old, every meal includes four or five different vegetables, and the meat used is free-range and organic. Choose from dishes like fish pie, chicken and leek risotto, veggie lasagne and pasta bolognese. Available for nationwide delivery.

If Everyone Knew

To mark Baby Loss Awareness Week, director Imogen Harrison has released a short documentary in which six women share their personal journeys of miscarriage and baby loss. Talking about their feelings of isolation, the stigma surrounding the subject, and the trauma and grief experienced, this powerful film aims to destigmatise the conversation on baby loss. Each woman has had a different experience –Gurinder went through six miscarriages and one stillbirth; Vanessa underwent several rounds of IVF and had a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy; and Donna had several miscarriages including a ‘missed miscarriage’. An important film for all, it’s available to watch here

The Row Kids

Regular SL readers will know The Row’s womenswear often tops our wish lists, so we were excited to hear that the brand, founded by twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, has just launched a collection of children’s clothing. The pieces are definitely an investment, but are crafted from ultra-soft cashmere and velvet, which won’t irritate little ones’ skin. We love the crewneck sweaters and beanie hats which come in bright and vibrant colours – there’s something for every boy and girl. Plus, 20% of all profits from the collection will be donated to local charities in LA, New York, and London which support children’s health, education, and wellbeing – even more of a reason to check it out.
