If you’ve chosen a timeless, or expensive wallpaper in your child’s room, hanging prints can feel a little scary. If you’re not sure you want to make the commitment, try propping pictures on shelves or a mantelpiece if you have one. They will still look great.

Older Kids
Use a centre cross and work your way out so the group has some kind of structure. A mix of mediums can also give a collection a more personal feel, so you can team a great print with a painting, a piece of the child’s art, a memento from a holiday, a photograph and so on, all in different frames. The good thing about framed pictures is you can always swap them out and update them as the child grows older.

A series of three (everything looks better in odd numbers) pictures in the same frame hung perfectly straight and spaced apart can also look great. But get out your tape measure, spirit level and maybe even a laser if you have one, and don’t rush it. A lot of people hang pictures too high, but they often look best at eye level, like a mirror. In a child’s room, this means hanging them a bit lower than you normally would.
