The Cool Kitchen Company That Uses Ikea Cupboards
As Reform Founders Jeppe Christensen and Michael Andersen say, IKEA is second to none when it comes to creating high-quality kitchen modules at reasonable price points – and that’s why the Copenhagen-based entrepreneurs revolved their business around it. Noticing a growing interest in custom-made carpentry kitchens, but also that prices tended to go way beyond most people’s budgets, they set about to find a solution – and what they came up with is seriously clever.
Reform have teamed up with leading Danish designers and internationally-acclaimed architects to ‘reform’ the basic IKEA designs our kitchens – simply measure up your space, pick one of their ten designs (each of which comes in multiple colour-ways) and receive your new fronts and countertops six to 12 weeks later. The fronts are pre-prepared for mounting, so the only thing you need to install are the hinges – after that, they simply click onto your existing cabinets – and countertops are cut to fit, you just need to tighten them to the cabinets.
As for the designs themselves, they’ve won multiple awards, and have drawn in customers from more than 30 countries across the world. The Scandi fashion world has been seduced too – with fellow Copenhagen-based brand Stine Goya (a team SL fave) enlisting Reform to create a bespoke brass kitchen in their Danish headquarters.
When it comes to interiors hacks, this is up there with the best of them. Let's hope there’s a London concept store on the cards soon...
