The Trend
The midi-skirt is nothing new but until now, it’s been the silky slip that has been a firm favourite with the fashion crew. Recently, we’ve noticed influencers and fashion editors opting for a full skirt with a nipped-in waist. The key to getting this trend right is to balance out the feminine shape with simple basics and pieces with a bit of an edge. Look for heavy fabrics such as leather and wool to keep the vibe grown up and avoid looking too girly.
On The Runway
Dior and Prada led the way with this trend on the AW23 runways with the feminine silhouette remaining a signature for both brands. Prada interpreted the trend with delicate applique flower detail styled with simple cashmere and feminine pointed flats, while other brands like Proenza Schouler added a hard edge with oversized hoodies and leather boots.

Who’s Wearing Them
Sex and The City fans will be familiar with Carrie Bradshaw’s take on the trend. From dramatic tulle ballerina styles to structured sleek designs, she wore them with masculine shirts, simple tanks and chunky knits. Recently, we’ve spied fashion girls @JennyMWalton and @DeborabRosa wearing them with blazers, bombers and cropped knits. We’ve been wearing ours in the office with oversized cashmere, heeled boots and statement earrings.
