Stick to your signature style – just soften the fabrics. My pregnancy style has stayed really true to what I usually wear – clean, minimal, classic – but I’ve gravitated towards softer textures and more forgiving shapes. Silk trousers, soft knits, A-line dresses and oversized shirts have all been on rotation. I’ve avoided maternity-specific pieces where I can, and instead gone for relaxed tailoring and tonal layering that feels like me and still works with my bump.
Get smart with your denim. I wore my favourite AGOLDE Low Slung Baggy jeans in the early stages – using the classic hair-bobble trick to get a bit more wear out of them. But as my bump grew, I switched to Abercrombie’s Low Rise Wide Leg jeans and just sized up. They’re flattering, super comfortable and still totally fit with the rest of my wardrobe. I’ve never been a fan of traditional maternity denim, so this was the perfect workaround.
Prioritise an elasticated waistband. Elasticated waist trousers have been a complete saviour. The Citizens of Humanity Aurora trousers have been a standout – they sit just under the bump and look polished enough for day-to-day wear. I’ve also lived in my Almada The Label crepe trousers – they’re so easy to dress up or down, whether I’m heading into the office with a blazer or styling them more casually with a tee or shirt.

Favour fluid silhouettes over bodycon. I’ve naturally gravitated towards looser, more fluid silhouettes – they just feel more in line with my style. I’ve never really been into bodycon; it doesn’t feel like me, and I find softer shapes more flattering and confidence-boosting. The Asceno Nisha dress has been a favourite – I have it in both black and white. It’s a throw-on piece that always feels effortless, and I know I’ll wear it well beyond pregnancy.
Stick with the brands you already love. There are loads of non-maternity brands that still work really well. I’ve picked up timeless pieces from TOTEME, Almada Label and Massimo Dutti. COS and ARKET have been brilliant for easy shirting and relaxed trousers that fit the bump without feeling like a style compromise. I’ve just been careful to choose shapes and fabrics that work now but will also last beyond this stage.
Let accessories elevate your outfits. Accessories have always been a big part of how I finish a look, and that hasn’t changed. I’ve been leaning into comfortable shoes that still feel elevated – kitten-heel thong sandals have been my go-to. I found a great snake-print pair from Mint Velvet that instantly add interest to simple outfits. I’m not wearing high heels at the moment, but a small heel still gives me a bit of polish.

Invest in a few versatile hero pieces. My Vince fluid satin trousers in black and cream have been a total luxury – they’re lightweight and go with everything. And again, the Asceno Nisha dress is a standout – it’s comfortable, easy and always looks pulled together. A few pieces like this really help when you want to feel like yourself with minimal effort.
Think long term with your purchases. My biggest pregnancy style lesson has been to buy with longevity in mind. I’ve been really conscious about choosing pieces I’ll still wear post-pregnancy – it’s made me think more carefully about fabric, fit and how things will work in my wardrobe long term. I’ve avoided anything too trend-led or maternity-specific, and just focused on things I genuinely love.
Start with elevated trousers. If I had to recommend just one item, it would be a great pair of elasticated trousers in a polished fabric like crepe or silk. They’re comfortable, easy to dress up or down and work for everything – from workdays to dinner out. I’ve worn mine constantly, and I know they’ll still be in my wardrobe long after the baby arrives.

Stay true to your style. My biggest tip for anyone struggling with pregnancy style is to stay true to what you love. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel – just find versions of the pieces you’ve always gravitated towards that feel good on your body right now. Whether it’s an oversized shirt, a wide-leg trouser or a relaxed knit dress, you can still feel like yourself.
Avoid panic buys. I’ve been quite careful about only buying pieces I know I’ll wear again, but there were some panic buys at the start – mostly stretchy dresses or quick online orders that didn’t feel like me. They reminded me how important it is to pause and stick to my instinct when it comes to style.
Take cues from your existing wardrobe. My own wardrobe has been the biggest influence on my pregnancy style. I’ve stayed focused on what I naturally gravitate towards – neutral tones, relaxed cuts, clean lines. I’ve taken inspiration from women who dress simply and confidently, and brands that design elevated essentials that work across life stages. It’s been more about adapting than changing.
