Channel the 90s. As a decade, it mastered the art of ‘casual chic’ – something I really base my style on. I always start with comfort, then elevate my looks with timeless, good-quality pieces. Less is always more. I opt for wide fits, well-cut t-shirts and predominantly neutral tones.
Find your colours. Since my style is quite minimalist, I tend to lean more toward a neutral colour palette – so mainly black, white and beige. It’s what suits me best and what I feel the most comfortable in. On holiday, I feel a bit more inclined to switch things up – for example, adding a touch of colour to brighten up an outfit. Orange has become a favourite this summer. While I don’t really wear prints, I do like stripes to add a bit of texture – it’s a good tip for minimalists looking to add a bit more interest.
Don’t force trends on yourself. If I see one that works with my style, I’ll try it but I’d never force myself to try something completely out of my comfort zone. Plus, I’m someone who can easily get tired of a trend if I see it everywhere – I like people whose personal style is unique, so I really try to stay true to who I am with my clothes.
Stay loyal to your favourite brands. I’ve known and worn Bobbies for years, and as a fan I started a relationship with the team and the studio in Paris. I’ve now created a collaboration with the brand, and I couldn't be prouder of it. I wanted to create my ideal shoe wardrobe – using quality materials and expert craftsmanship to create pieces that feel ultra-modern but can be worn season after season. I love how shoes can elevate an outfit to make it feel dressier or more casual, depending on the vibe.
Be on the lookout for new favourites. French brand Calarena was founded in Corsica and it’s an under-the-radar brand to know. From swimwear to cover-ups, the pieces are simple but can be styled up easily with accessories. Totême is well known but it isn’t an obvious one for resortwear – I love its selection of swimsuits, scarves and pareos. For dresses, one of my go-tos is Australian brand Shona Joy. It always captures the spirit of summer. Cult Gaia is another cool label that specialises in more directional collections – personally, I love the crochet and fringed numbers. Finally, Attire (created by influencer Xenia Adonts) is another brand where dresses are so well made, using beautiful, luxe and sustainable materials.
Curate your accessories. This summer I’ve been loving a Vanessa Bruno belt which I’ve worn non-stop. My Loewe basket bag is such a classic – I have the mini style, which feels a bit different. I really like the Bottega Veneta pearl earrings that have already become this summer’s hottest product. They’re so cool.
Stay on top of your wardrobe essentials. I sort through mine regularly to keep things organised and on the more minimal side. It makes it far easier to build an outfit because I know several pieces will go together without even looking. Then, I spend time styling the accessories – picking my shoes, bag and jewellery. Right now, I’m loving a linen shirt with denim shorts, a nice belt and a great pair of flip-flops.
Take inspiration from the Scandi girls. I love Nordic style and often look to @JosefineHJ and @HannahSchonberg for fresh ideas. I also love @ClaireRose and @Anouk_Yve for their takes on daytime dressing and @EndlessyLoveClub for slightly edgier looks.
Pack light for holiday. I have a couple of key essentials I’ll always bring with me. These include my Celine sunglasses, a throw-on shirt (to wear as a cover-up) and my wide-leg linen trousers. Focus on light materials like linen and cotton, and team them with raffia details and interesting accessories.
Set some guidelines. My key rule when I’m buying something is to think whether the piece was fashionable ten years ago – and if I can see myself wearing it ten years from now. It’s all about longevity and knowing that something won’t go out of style. Plus, if the material is beautiful, then it’ll age well.
Always iron your clothes. It seems obvious, and it’s a simple tip, but creases can make all the difference to how an outfit looks. I’ll usually just run my pieces over with a steamer. This is especially relevant for holiday clothes after they’ve been sitting in a suitcase. I’ll typically pack long, lightweight dresses or long flowing skirts – both of which look far cooler and more elegant without creases.
