Few things work better in an interview than a great suit – but that doesn't mean it has to be boring or corporate. Matching separates make getting dressed simple – plus, they’re a blank canvas for adding your own flair and personality. I opted for a ribbed tank and lots of gold jewellery. I also wore trainers, though loafers like these would be a slightly smarter alternative.

My interview took place this time last year, so I was dressing for transitional weather. I chose a knitted dress and knee-high boots as this combination always makes me feel comfortable, smart and polished. I completed the look with a wool blazer and an understated bag. I also wore my everyday jewellery, so it all felt true to who I am.

Mine was a Zoom interview – and they are still a thing in today's world. It was really important for me to showcase a smarter upper-half so I opted this sleek high-neck jumper with a cropped blazer and a simple pair of hoops. While it can be easy not to bother with the bottom half, I wore silky black trousers to ensure I felt put together.

I’d advise choosing something that feels like your personal style while also being really considerate of brands. The right balance between high street, high end and lesser-known names shows a breadth of brand knowledge, which is essential in this job. Also, ensure each piece has a modern edge to it, whether that's barrel-style trousers, squiggly hoops, masculine tailoring or a slightly chunkier loafer.

Choosing an outfit for an interview in the fashion industry is a tricky thing to get right. Trend led and smart don’t always go hand in hand, so I opted for strong staple pieces that felt polished but still with a bit of edge. That included a full leather skirt and statement gold jewellery. Whatever industry you are in, I would suggest going for strong silhouettes and well-cut pieces in quality fabrics.
