A Designer Shares Her Summer Wishlist

The Set
I am obsessed with co-ord sets, as are my clients. It’s the effortless nature of them and the fact that you can’t quite tell at first glance whether it is one piece or two. Our Haberdashers shirt and short set, which is made from a stunning French-blue linen chambray, is one of my must-haves for this season. You can wear it together for a put-together look but can just as easily style the oversized shirt over a bikini or team it with denim. The shorts, in particular, are my favourite; they don’t cling and have lots of movement – a definite must for women who aren't so keen on their bums.
The Bikini
I am a devotee of the Australian brand Fella Swim, and I own about 50 sets of their bikinis. I have every version of the bikini tops and love them all but only stick with The Rick James bottoms. The cut is perfect and super flattering and allows me to enjoy a day at the beach with confidence.
The Earrings
I have a thing for hearts and no more so than with my jewellery. This summer, I have added the Anikka Inez chunky gold heart hoops to my collection. Rebecca de Ravenel is also a favourite of mine – her coco-wood hearts have made it into my roster. They are lightweight and are the perfect finishing touch to an outfit.
The Dress
I was so excited to finally launch our new Frida Dress, as I have wanted to design this for years. The slight sheerness of the fabric allows a glimpse of the body underneath and I love its ‘undone’ quality – it provides the loveliest foundation for you to shine through.
The Strapless Bra
A reliable strapless bra is an essential component of a summer wardrobe. Else bras are a godsend. The brand’s Bare Underwire style perfectly shapes the bust, never slips or rolls down, and is actually supportive, comfortable and disappears underclothing.
The Sunglasses
For me, it has to be Céline sunglasses – and Céline sunglasses only! I buy the same pair in every new colour as soon as they come out. This summer, I have opted for a new style in a cream acetate with a dark lens that is a play on my favourite. They have that retro-feel I love and a ‘lifting’ effect on the face.
The White Shirt
I have a whole wardrobe filled to the brim with white shirts, but this featherweight one from US brand Frank and Eileen is ideal for the warmer months. I tie it up and wear it with one of my maxi skirts or thrown over one of my silk sarongs on the beach. But it looks equally good tucked in with denim throughout the year.
The Summer Shoe
Le Monde Beryl has done it again. I already own multiple of the brand’s mules and Mary Janes in sumptuous velvets but, now they have come out with a range of styles in a transparent mesh. I have already invested in the entire range. I love their ghost-like suggestion of a shoe whilst keeping the foot bare – a great way to take on summer.
As for summer sandals, look no further than the long-established Saint-Tropez atelier K Jacques – the go-to sandal from the French Riviera. The pieces are all handcrafted and designed to flatter the foot and make it appear more delicate and petite. For summer, the gold is my favourite colour iteration – it really enhances my tan. Plus, they are actually comfortable for all-day wear.
